Monster toad captured in NT
FrogWatch says last night's toad bust in Darwin's northern suburbs uncovered what it says is the biggest cane toad ever to be caught in the Northern Territory.
The pest was found at Lee Point along with 38 smaller toads.
FrogWatch organiser Graeme Sawyer says the monster toad is the size of a small dog, measuring more than 20 centimetres in length and weighing more than 860 grams.
"The only bigger cane toad I've seen is in a specimen bottle in a museum in Brisbane," he said.
"I reckon I've probably seen 50,000-60,000 cane toads in the last 12 months and there is nothing even remotely close to this thing."
FrogWatch has organised a series of toad busts in key areas of the Northern Territory to minimise the wet season toad invasion.
These toads don't have a hope of being treated humanely when they are labelled this way. :(

Just like milking cows that are obviously female being referred to as 'it'. Think of them as objects and it's easier to treat them like objects.

I've seen this article, and the picture, though I don't care to post it, since the poor dead toad is being held by his back feet by some sort of pink, leathery, mostly hairless monster, with a snaggle-toothed, slavering, imbecilic grin on what appears to be a face, though the bloodshot eyes and doughy features are mostly obscured by sagging, bristled folds of broken-veined flesh. I've seen a lot of these pests in my time, but few have come close to this one in its display of savage, brutish glee at being photographed by one of its bloodthirsty fellows with the dead body of the innocent, beautiful toad it killed. These things are, of course, known for taking extreme pride in killing animals only 1/50th of their size, and who have no chance of defense or escape due to the immense discrepancy in size and speed between themselves and these common, vicious, bipedal parasites. Known for consuming ANYTHING that cannot get away from them, these monsters have spread to every continent including Antartica, and if they are not stopped soon they will completely destroy every ecosystem in which they have been introduced.

Fauxmage - tell us how you really feel! You've got to quit holding back as I've heard it can cause ulcers and the like!:agree: :D
I agree but could not have said it so eloquently as you have. There was a small lizard inside on the sun porch today which I am embarrassed to say I am scared of:o so I called my Father and had him catch it and put it outside. It was in the wading pool that the puppies USED to stay in. They have now taken over the whole porch and Precious' dog house which she readily gives up to get away from them! I've got to take more pictures - they turned four weeks old today but most of them are already eating puppy food which I had to start giving them because Precious doesn't want to feed them anymore. I still have her feed them at least once daily - especially the smaller two but after this next week they should be fully weaned. I haven't been around puppies in years and thought they would nurse for at least six weeks but evidently not - they have plenty of sharp little teeth!

;)
We had a frog hole in the backyard where I lived until I was 6, and we had toads too. I was interested in every animal I saw, and my parents didn't teach me to be afraid of any of them. I still talk to lizards, frogs, and snakes, whenever I see them. I wish I could share my lack of fear for these little guys with you, Charmagne!
I'm glad for the puppy update! I recall the litter of puppies I helped care for nursed quite a bit longer, but Precious may feel the need to stop sooner on account of her poor health. Its good that the puppies are eating solid food.
I'm looking forward to more pictures! :colors:

No they don't. Poor little things. It's horrible they way they report on the "toad catching teams" on the TV news, too.
It's not the toads fault that they're here.
