I bought some falafel mix in bulk and it didn't come with instructions.
It's the "Casbah" brand. I looked on Casbah's website but didn't see anything. Does anyone have a box on hand that you could look at and tell me what heck I'm supposed to do?

Mix one part of falafel mix with one part of water, let it sit for about 15 minutes or so, then form into balls or patties and fry or bake.

Thanks Fauxmage. I winged it and they turned out great.

Oh, it can be done. I tried making it from scratch last weekend and it was a total failure. This boxed version was much better.

Oh no!

:D I was just dreaming up a different kind of recipe competition, something along the lines of "What's the Worst Thing You can Do with Falafel". :chef:

I don't think I've ever tried to make it from scratch. :rubchin:

The recipe that I followed smelled fantastic but it just didn't hold up when cooking. The patties fell apart when I was frying them and I darn near caught my kitchen on fire with all of the oil at such a high heat.
I'm really pleased with the mixture that I bought today.
Have you ever dehydrated them? I've been reading quite a bit about raw foods and saw a recipe for raw/dehydrated falafel. It sounded interesting.

I have never done it, but I was just thinking of how they would be if they were dehydrated.

My favorite way to eat them is to prepare a lettuce, tomato, and cucumber salad with olive oil and lemon juice, and toss the freshly cooked falafel balls right into the salad. Which would have been great with your crumbly ones, since I bust them up in the salad anyway. They are way better than croutons!
