‘Natural cures “they” don’t want you to know about.’ By Kevin Trudeau. Alliance Publishing Group.
Has anyone heard of this book? I only got it last week – and I haven’t finished reading it yet – so I probably shouldn’t be recommending it, however what I have read so far is extraordinary. The information isn’t new – I have read most of it before – however I’ve never seen it all in one book before and seen the dots connected so clearly.
His basic premise is that the pharmaceutical companies & government agencies are suppressing safe, natural cures for most diseases because real cures would interfere with the multi-billion dollar profits being made.
On the down side, the author is an omnivore plus he seems to be quite taken with scientology; however, he seems to be extremely well-informed on the subjects of alternative medicine and the lengths the pharmaceutical companies, food companies, government agencies, politicians (and others) will go to in the name of profits. I understand that that is not news to anyone here, still, the author writes at length about organic everything-you-can-imagine plus all the toxins we routinely eat, drink, breathe, and hear!
The book has an American focus; but it seems to me that what applies to the US applies in an awful lot of other countries too.
If even half of what the author claims is accurate, then this world is being run by people who are far greedier and more ruthless than I ever dared to imagine. :speechless: :rollingpin: :hbang:
The authors website is www.naturalcures.com (I think Gliondrach might have already provided this link in another thread, but since it pertains to this book, so I’m adding it here too.) :)

Without having read the book, I agree with this statement.
The days that some one became a doctor "to help people" are gone, it's about the hard bucks these days.
It's no longer about helping people, it's about getting the patent first so you can make big bugs during the patented time.
imho, that's why they push genetic manipulation and stemcell research, they need new patents to keep making big bucks.

Thanks for that, Phoenix. I might consider getting it.
There have been many people who have been hounded and even imprisoned for treating people with products that the drug industy-controlled authorities don't want used.

I have a very hard time even thinking of them as people. I don't know how they can live with themselves.
A very interesting example I just read about is the availablility of the essential amino acid tryptophan in the USA in supplement form. Tryptophan is the only substance from which the brain can make serotonin, a natural chemical absolutely vital to healthy brain chemistry and emotional balance. It was removed from the market by the FDA ostensibly because of a contamination accident in a Japanese production plant, but very soon after tryptophan, which is a natural amino acid found in food, was made unavailable to the general public, Prozac made its debut as a treatment for depression and other emotional disturbances. Prozac and drugs like it "recycle" the brain's supply of serotonin, but unlike tryptophan, cannot help the brain manufacture any new serotonin. Therefore, as many people have found, these drugs are basically ineffectual for their intended purpose, and of course have many dangerous side effects, including causing suicides in their users, one of the symptoms of depression these drugs are supposed to prevent!
Just recently tryptophan has again become available as a supplement, but the price seems to have quadrupled, making it even more expensive than carnitine, which used to be the most highly-priced amino acid available. Its sad when profiteers play games with what I consider to be every person's inborn right to health and life.
The top food sources of tryptophan happen to be spinach, sea vegetables, tofu and other soy foods, and sesame seeds. These all provide more tryptophan than any of the animal based sources.

Fauxmage,
Isn't tryptophan the thing in turkey that supposedly makes people sleepy?
Phoenix, I'll definitely check out that book. Thanks for pointing it out.

I got this book as a gift from my sister. I hated it. Seriously, this guy just repeats himself in each chapter and he's not very eloquent. And he suggests eating organic meats and dairy. THumbs down. I couldn't even get through the whole thing, I was so annoyed by him, meat and dairy suggestions aside.

Yes, and turkey and cottage cheese are the most often recommended sources of tryptophan, so I was glad to see that spinach has three times the amount found in turkey or cottage cheese, per 200 calorie serving.
Serotonin is the brain chemical responsible for the sleepy feeling, but it is also essential for emotional and mental health, especially in cases of severe stress and anxiety. Tryptophan gets converted to both serotonin and melatonin, with the aid of niacin, and I think magnesium, too.
One of the best "midnight snacks" to help you get the tryptophan to cross the blood-brain barrier is an oatmeal raisin cookie, not turkey or cottage cheese!

Taking tryptophan off the market was disgusting. :grumble: I wonder who runs the FDA? :devil4:
Thank you for the info though, BWM. I think there may be a "shortage" of tryptophan in my home at the moment. :bmoon:

Sorry, I should have mentioned that he is repetitive. That does make reading his book "hard work", and his being an omni doesn't help, but I still think the book is worth reading if you can wade through it. :)

Europeans for Medical Progress have a film called 'Safer Medicines'. It is about the non-vivisection methods of drug development. It lasts about 34 minutes.
