Seattle is very vegan friendly. There's a grocery store right down the street from where I work and they sell all organic and a ton of vegan stuff. The have a deli and everything that's vegan is listed as such.
I think Seattle ranked in the top 10 most vegan friendly cities in the US last year.

And you have Bill Gates for a neighbour. It would be good if he went vegan.

Last year was the first time I tried "Mighty-O (http://www.mightyo.com/)" donuts and "Field Roast (http://www.fieldroast.com/)".
There will be several vegan chefs and naturopaths there as well. My daughter and I look forward to it every year. This time my newly veganized mom and her friend will come with us.

how is your mum My3labs
She's doing well, thanks. She keeps telling me how her bowels are having a field day with all the activity. I told her it's her body purging all the crap (pun intended) out of her system. I think I'm going to start cooking for her over the weekends and setting her up with some meals for the week. She's going back to work at the end of this month and that will make things more challenging. I really hope she sticks with it.

Well, we just got back. It was awesome!!! We tried so many different foods. My favorite was the Whole Soy & Co (http://www.wholesoyco.com/product_frozen.html) frozen yogurt. I tried the Hazelnut Chocolate, Vanilla Bean and Creme Carmel. Fantastic! We tried several flavors of hummus, some tofu jerky, salads, rice, etc.
I also bought the "Raw Food Made Easy" cookbook.
Sarah wasn't able to make it and it was sad not having her there, but my mom and her friend were amazed at all of the yummy goodies.
Vegfest Seattle 2007 was a huge success.
Oh, do any of you remember "VeganBodyBuilder" (from the other site)? I met him.

I just got some of the vanilla bean a few days ago. I'd never tried it before. I mixed it with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and banana. :yum: :eat:
I also bought the "Raw Food Made Easy" cookbook. Did you get a signed one? I have a couple of signed books, by my favorite authors. I'm not a huge autograph hound, though.

He was very nice and remembered me.
I just looked through my new raw cookbook and I'm excited to try several of the recipes. I wasn't able to get it signed because we got there too late.
Farm Sanctuary was there and I talked to a very nice woman about the California location and my dream of opening my own sanctuary. All of the AR groups were kind of hidden in the back and that was a bit disappointing. I can only guess that it was to keep the kids away from any scary stuff.
I estimate that 80% of the food samples were vegan but I did have to ask every food vendor before trying anything. Maybe someday there will be a veganfest.
I'm bummed that we have to wait another year for it to come around again.

I've been to EarthSave's Taste of Health (http://www.tasteofhealth.org/) twice and it was great the first year but the 2nd year, mighty lacking in vegan food options. We took the kids when they were 3 months old and it was fun but a challenge to hang out at Lincoln Center for a few hours. My first time breastfeeding (discreetly) in such a public place. :femme: I like the give-aways. This was taken in 2003 at the festival.

I haven't seen anything in the paper since it's been over but there were articles on Saturday and Sunday.
We tried these vegan cookies on Sunday and they were fantastic:

Yes, I think it's only in Los Angeles. I'm not sure there will be one this year since the website is not updated.:( I've gone for the last 3 years, and I was even able to bring my husband along (that's a huge achivement, trust me.)
I will for SURE be going to the Animal Rights Conference 2007 her in LA in July.:blinkwave: www.arconference.org Anyone else wanna come?:)

Back from vegfest....stuffed from all the goodies we sampled.
Sheese & Cheezly are fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!
We stopped at the vegan grocery and bought some. Worth the $9 they're charging. I had the smoked cheddar and blue cheese from Sheese and the mozzarella from Cheezly.

What else did you try, my3labs? Was it all vegan?
Wish we had one around here. I did very much enjoy the mature cheddar Cheezly when I ordered it from veganessentials. I'm waiting for an order of Teese, the mozarella-style vegan cheeze from Chicago Soy Dairy.

No, not everything was vegan but most of it was. And, everyone there knew what was vegan or just vegetarian so we just had to ask before we ate anything. We also had some vegan jerky (several flavors available) from Tasty Eats (http://www.tastyeats.com). We bought some of the Jamaican Chick'N. We also tried some taquitos and rolled tacos from Starlite Cuisines (http://www.starlitecuisine.com/). I can't remember all of the food we tried (most of it we've had before). Also, the Tofurky Hot Dogs were pretty good.

Mozzerella melted in two slices of bread with fried garlicky mushrooms in a toaster.. yummy...
If you van get the mozz from 'Toffuti' do try that, it comes in slices.
That sounds yummy, tails. Tofutti slices would be great except they use partially-hydrogenated oils. Boo. ::mad:
