I came home today to find blood one of my dogs. It wasn't really red, like blood should be...it was kind of pink in color. My first thought was that she got into a fight with one of the other dogs but I didn't find a puncture wound and it looks and feels like she had a cyst that ruptured. It's been oozing for the last few hours. She's had a cyst on one of her legs that comes and goes and this feels similar. It's pretty hard around the area that was bleeding.
I'm going to get her in to see the naturopathic vet next week but was wondering if anyone had any info on cysts and what can be done holistically?

I don't know how accurate any of this info is. I'm sure the cyst is nothing to worry about and that she'll be all right. A lot of good thoughts will be sent to her by the people here.

Something about boils, the blood cleansing routine might be useful. Ask your vet.

This site has a calendula treatment for dogs with sebaceous cysts, about half-way down the list, under 'Dogs and sebaceous cysts':

Sorry to hear about the cyst, my3labs. Which lab is affected? It's great that you have a naturopathic vet to go to. :agree:

Cysts are generally caused by the diet, and labs and goldens seem to be quite prone to them. For the injured area, I would keep it clean with a little hydrogen peroxide, and use a calendula based first aid cream. Let us know what the vet says! I hope she's doing ok! :colors:
