This morning, I was in the kitchen when I heard a loud bang followed by both kids screaming. I ran into their bedroom and found Sarah's foot trapped under a desk which they had toppled. I got her foot out and then called for Mr. TVT, who was asleep as he got home from work at 3am. Sarah's foot had 2 gashes in it but the skin wasn't broken. I held her and she was wiggling her toes after awhile though non-stop screaming. She'd scream 'OUCH' over and over again. I brought her into our bed and comforted her while Chris got ready to take her to hospital but in the meantime, Sarah fell asleep and I called our pediatrician who said if she's walking on the foot, even if its painful, then it's not broken and she doesn't need to go to hospital and I should let her sleep and see how she is. We followed his advice and she woke up about an hour later, screaming when she stood on the foot.
She is able to walk, albeit in great pain. My heart is breaking and I still don't know what's going on. I understand why parents run to the hospital, it is agonizing to see your child suffer however I don't want to expose her to that environment unecessarily.
Please pray or think about her right ankle healing and her pain easing.
Thanks
Charmagne

Oh TVT how horrible! Poor Sarah - you must be scared to death! It's heartbreaking to see our children in pain. Is she able to walk more easily as the day goes on.? It could of been deelpy bruised but if she stays in that much pain - although any of us don't want to - she'll need to be seen as she could have a fracture. Oh I hope not! :comfort:
I'm sending many big positive thoughts to poor Sarah - please keep us posted. I know what's it's like - I don't know how I got Chris to the age of 26after several emergency room visits!

She's still napping so I don't know how it is now. She woke up at 4am this morning :tired: so I'm guessing she'll nap for quite some time. I have a lump of stress down my throat, if that makes any sense.

Oh that makes perfect sense!! When it comes to our children - nothing else matters!! I bet you haven't had any sleep. That's why I cry everytime I see a baby animal being taken from it's mother. :crossfingers:
I'm hoping that when she wakes up she'll be able to walk without crying - PLEASE keep us informed.

This was actually my time frame for today (approximately)
3am: Mr. TVT gets home from work, I wake up and try to go back to sleep
4am: Sarah wakes up and joins us in bed which involves her climbing and jumping on me. Mr. TVT tells her to go back to bed. She does until..
4:30am: Sarah is back and goes back and forth between our bed and her room, yelling at Ben to wake up. He does at
5am: Both kids are now bouncing on our bed and jumping on Mr. TVT and I. I get out of bed and take both of them into the living room so Mr. TVT can get some rest. I lay on the couch while they run amock.
6:30am: Take a shower with the kids, change diapers, brush teeth
7am: Give the kids and I breakfast. I have a cup of tea
8am: Do dishes
8:30am: Feed kitty so she can take her meds
8:45am: Clean up kitty puke
9am: Start prepping for a slow cooker recipe I was making, White Bean Cassoulet
9:15am: Here the thud and screaming. Accident described above. Sarah is in my arms crying until about.
10am: She falls asleep on our bed. I make a splint out of a towel to wrap around her ankle to avoid any injuries from Ben jumping on her. Mr. TVT puts Babe in the VCR for Ben to watch
10:30am: Mr. TVT and I attempt to give Feline her medicine. She fights us, I squirt Mr. TVT with Lysine. We finally sorta succeed.
11am: Hear Sarah crying, she woke up and is trying to walk on her foot. She comes into the living room and watches Babe. Mr. TVT makes me a cup of coffee.
11:30am: Get lunch together
12noon: We all eat lunch except Mr. TVT who just ate breakfast
12:30: Kids in their cribs for nap time.
12:45pm: Do dishes, clean table, make phone calls
1pm until now (2:45pm): Relaxing on the computer
That's my day so far, I can't imagine why I'm stressed

OH MY GOD! Poor TVT AND Mr. TVT AND Sarah AND Feline!! What a day you are having!! Enjoying your mini vacation? So do I understand you right she is walking on her foot? If so, I am so glad to hear that!! Kids get into so much even if you "kid proof" your house and you have TWO working together against you!!:agree:
At least you are off for another day - maybe you can recoup a little energy!

I'm sure Sarah's foot will be all right. The table might have hurt a tendon or muscle. Any bruising? You said the foot was gashed but the skin wasn't broken. Do you mean that there were indentations where the table hit it?
I'll be sending Sarah and her right ankle good thoughts.

Poor Sarah! I am sending good thoughts her way. I remember thinking when you had that picture of her in your avatar, how it made me smile and think loving thoughts towards her, and wondering if she could somehow feel it every time someone looked at it and smiled. :colors:
I'm sure she will be ok. Children are much more elastic than adults. I remember a horrible-sounding story of a toddler whose head was completely run over by a car, but he suffered nothing worse than bruises.
When I hurt my foot, and couldn't walk on it for several days on account of the pain, I was told that even if I had broken some bones in it, the hospital couldn't have done anything more for me than what I was doing anyway, which was keeping it tightly wrapped, using ice on it (a bag of frozen peas for 20 minutes at a time) and staying off it for a while. Do you have any arnica ointment? That is one of the best things you can use, and it does dull the pain too. I swore by it while my foot was messed up, and I've used it for years on bruises. It cuts healing time by 2/3, in my experience.
Get the lavender essential oil out, and get everyone to take a great big whiff of it!

What a nightmare day. Am exhausted reading about it.
Hugs to you, Sarah and the rest of TVT family and hope Sarah's foot recovers soon.
Fauxmage beat me to the arnica idea. Works wonders and will really promote fast healing.

I remembered I have some Traumed gel, contains Arnica, Chamomile and some more good stuff. I rubbed it on her ankle, which she hated, but she does seem to be trying to use her right ankle more. She gets around by crawling though. Still, I don't think its broken as she's sitting on her foot, bending it, stretching it, touching it etc. I think its a sprain. We'll see how she is tomorrow, almost bedtime for her and her brother now.:zzz:
Thanks for the thoughts everyone.
I forgot to mention that her appetite is fine, she scarfed down tempeh, tofu, broccoli, kidney beans, avocado, and flax cereal today as well as drinking loads of rice milk.

Things like this always happen when I'm not on the forum to keep an eye on things! :sigh: ;)

She seems better today. She walks a little on her foot without crying though sometimes, she'll chose to crawl. I'm pretty confident that it is a sprain and she just needs to stay off the foot a bit. They both slept until 5am this morning.

It's those good vegan bones :D She's doing much better now, walking more often than crawling. I'm just worried about her falling on ice and injuring herself more but she seems to know to be careful.
At least she's not going anywhere near their desk now.

I'm so glad Sarah is better and feline too! Kids can scare the daylights out of you. Does it seem to you boy are rougher than girls? Chris had stitches three times. I think he thought he was Superman!
Kisses to Sarah.:psmooch:
