"Suporting A Circus Suports Animal Abuse"
I especially like that one....you could shorten it a bit.
Support a circus/Support Abuse.
Will you have any pictures? If so....how about "Life Sentence" or "Prisoners for Life" under the picture of a caged animal.
Anyway......best of luck to you Kriter....whatever you do WILL make
a difference.....YOU ROCK!!

Elephants aren't clowns - they're not here to entertain us.
You might be laughing - the elephants aren't.
You can enjoy yourselves - the elephants can't.
Turn round and walk away - turn your backs on cruelty.

Hi Kriter,
That's a wonderful thing you're doing. I don't have another idea for you, but wanted to share with you something I recently did. I was in the subway and there was a huge sign for the Barnum & Bailey Circus. It has huge letters that said "Do Something Different Today" - and I added with my handy dandy big fat black magic marker that I keep in my backpack for just such occasions: "Don't Abuse Animals." I thought it ended their sentence nicely. ;)

That's great! My husband did something recently at his grandmother's nursing home. There was a giant paper turkey on the wall and all the feathers had things that people were thankful for. On the turkey's body, it said, "I'm thankful for.." and my husband wrote VEGANS write under that. :) When he returned the following day, the turkey had been taken down. :(

Good for you, KRITER.
That shows that they were feeling guilty or that your criticism of their behaviour had stung them. It all depends on how much weight they give to your actions. It's a similar reaction to being insulted. If an adult, especially one who you think is likely to form correct opinions, calls you stupid or ugly, you could be hurt, but only if you had doubts about your intelligence or attractiveness. If a four-year-old child says the same thing, you are unlikely to be hurt. This is because you know the child can't really know anything about you or about life to have formed any valid opinions. With the adult, it is different - they have the experience to know if someone is stupid or ugly and their opinion about you could be true - at least from their point of view.
When the circus-goers were stung by your protest, it is likely that they were affected by it. If it meant nothing to them most would have ignored you. You wouldn't feel angry if someone accused you of being cruel to carrots. What did they have to feel angry or threatened by? Of course, there would always be one who would shout something, but if lots of people did so it shows that they felt threatened and were hitting back as most people would feel like doing if an adult called them stupid or ugly.
You are obviously hitting their guilty buttons.

Yes.....I know Martin is right. Still, it's hard to understand people like that.
I mean with me, the minute I feel guilty about something, I stop doing
it. Or if I don't....at least I keep real quiet about it.
But in any case Kriter.....I really give you a lot of credit for being out
there......and I know it's real cold there too.
Just remember, there are people in that crowd who won't say anything
but will stop & think and probably do some research and next time the circus
comes around they won't be there.....they might even be with you guys.
And.....one another thing....this happens to me all the time. I hear
about something I never heard of before and all of a sudden it keeps coming
up over & over......does anyone else ever notice that? It's like seeing something [like a protest sign] puts an energy in your mind to draw more information about the subject to you.......you know?
So that's another reason protests are good.....probably even more good
then we realize.......
Keep us posted......will ya Kriter? :agree:

 Great job, Kriter. keykeypie is right, while some assholes will yet stuff just to be obnoxious, others might be thinking about what you are saying with your signs and literature and might even take the next step to do the research into why circuses are so evil :devil4: , at least the ones with animals. After all, I used to see Ringley Bros. circus every year in NYC until I learned about how horrible they are. It's all about enlightenment.

Kriter I was thinking about you today. (And everyone here actually, but you in particular cos of this thread.) I was in the part of my neighborhood where there is a (ew) butcher shop. (I hate even saying that word.) In the window were the poor little skinned pigs and whatever poor animals (I can't even recognize them anymore) hanging upside down. :crying:  :tantrum: :hbang: Don't get me started. So I passed by - and - well, let's just say about fifteen minutes later there were PETA stickers all over their window which said "WARNING - ANIMALS SUFFERED TO MAKE THIS PRODUCT". I'm not saying I know for sure who put the stickers there, it could have been anyone really. Who knows?
On another note, who do we need to speak to to get a smilie wearing a balaclava? :)

Thank all yall for the suport.Thats rite nice.We give out handouts the 2nd nite.Folks was taking them and the ones that didnt wert hateful or nothing.Thay just said no thanks.Maybe cuz I was rite there in front of them. There was 3 of us doing it and it was a nuther cold nite.I had so much on I cudnt move good. There was one oleboy standing behine me with a plastic garbage bag yelling "These people are protesters, you dont hav to take that paper from them, its not circus information, its got nuthin to do with the circus".I ignored him.If I was to say anything it wood of made him talk more and louder. One of my partners did and he said to her"You aint going to sell me,Ringling Brothers been in bizness along time." Dont kno wut kinda meening went with that last part, but he was yelling.I admit,I wanted to kik his ass up and down the parking lot and round the building. But I controled myself and tryd to sho folks just cuz Im for animal rites Im not a terrorist and Im not going to kill thair younguns and I mite not look like a likeable dude but Im trying to be.Giv out handouts the last two days and everything was cool.We put up with the cold and stuk it out.Now we dun its, warmed up to 60 degrees.Dont make no kinda sense.Anyway,Im liking the warmer weather. We had a feral cat project going on at the same time over the weekend.Theres volinteers out thair who catch feral cats.We had a clinic set up at the local SPCA wair the feral cats was geting fixed, then took bak wair thay was cawt and turned loos.So that thined us out for the protest but we still dun good.

Ladyfinger bananas are smaller, sweeter bananas with a fresher taste than the more common Cavendish. They need to be really ripe to be palatable, in my opinion, whereas I prefer to eat Cavendish bananas when they are only just ripe. Cavendish bananas are the most commonly eaten bananas here and are usually much cheaper to buy than Ladyfingers.
