Felíne has had a very loud, nasal snore the last few months. She doesn't seem sick, she's eating and at her usual activity level (meaning barely moving during the day  ). Could she be asthmatic? She doesn't seem to be in distress. I worry about taking her to a vet because she is utterly traumatized by vet visits and I hate the idea of starting her on medications that will just traumatize her even more. Am I being a bad cat mom by just letting her be?

if Felíne is slightly overweight it could make her snore and milk could do the same( some dried cat food/treats have milk in).

ive a friend who has rats one of those is asthmatic, she was told not to use saw dust or wood shavings as it would make it worse, if Felíne has sawdust litter that might make things worse.

sorry not much help all the best hope Felíne is and you are both well very soon.:crossfingers: :catn:

TVT,
all I can tell you is I had exactly in the same thing a few years ago with my Charlene.......but otherwise she seemed fine in all other ways so I didn't
do anything. I just cannot keep her out of my shop and maybe the dust
bothers her but she's perfectly OK & healthy......just snores real loud all
the time and sometimes even when she's awake.

I'm pretty sure that asthma will cause attacks of wheezing and difficult breathing in cats, which does not sound like what Feline is doing. Weight, and age may be affecting her snoring. If you aren't already, use a non-clay litter, as the clay dust is the worst thing for everyone, cats and people. There are pine, wheat, recycled newspaper, and corn-based clumping formulas available, but if they are too expensive, try using plain sand with wheat flour mixed in. The flour should clump the urine, as that is what makes it clump in the wheat based litter.
I've been using Nature's Miracle, which is made from corn and pine, and has a nice, natural smell, without any perfume added.

Thanks all. We do use pine litter. Felíne is a bit overweight and she's about 8 or 9 years old so she fits the profile. I'm not going to take her to the vet and let them do stuff to her that will just traumatize her.

I'm sure Felíne would rather keep snoring, while it is not really causing her a problem, than go to the vet. :agree:
