Please note that the advertisment that will be screen on Aussie TV after 9:30 pm is not everyones cup of tea and may be disturbing for some.
On the otherhand it is a dramatic and effective ad that I think will creat quite a stir and get a lot of people talking and doing things about battery farming.

I just watched the ad (having put off doing so as I get pretty depressed by these sorts of things). It is very effective. :agree: I was particularly interested to read about the making of the ad and about Suzy and her seven sisters. :) Thanks for posting the link, Alistair.
I gave a home to some ex-battery hens a long time ago. It made me very emotional when I took them home and watched them (almost immediately) have their first ever dust baths. I guess that instinct had been there all their lives. :(

OK, call me a :bhead: but where on the website? And do you mean the nocagedeggs website or the Animal Lib website? I must be having a bad day as I cannot find the dates. :crying:

I think this is what you are looking for - it's okay - the link wasn't posted before. Came to me through a different network.

Thanks, Alistair. I have volunteered to sit in a cage. :agree: I also added a comment that Mr Cal may be persuaded to sit in a cage too! ;) :D

OK, so I spent a few hours in a Human Battery Cage on Tuesday, in the centre of Brisbane, and I have a sore bum from the experience. :wigglebutt:
Each of the cages housed four human animals. We handed out Why Vegan? leaflets to passers-by and spoke to them about the extreme cruelty of the caged hen farming system. A friend took a couple of photos but she hasn't emailed them to me yet. ;) :)

Well done! Were many people interested?

Yes, but only a small number of them really wanted to know what we were doing in the cages. Most of these signed our petition to ban the battery cage in Oz. :) Some of the passers-by, who were too busy to stop, were clearly amused at the spectacle and a few rather obviously pretended not to notice us. :sigh:

That's a fantastic AR activity, Oracl. I would think some people would now contemplate next time they want to eat chicken menstrual waste/aborted fetus. Was it done in the colder weather so you wouldn't molt?

Here's a photo of the Human Battery Cages. I put the other, more personal, close-up photo in a more private part of the forum. ;) :)

I should locate the Human Battery Cage pics from when they were in Adelaide!
Wasn't sure where to put this - we don't seem to have a demo section.
Hola all - sorry I have been away for so long.

Welcome back. What's the ALV?
Alistair
09-07-2007, 05:21 PM
ALV is Animal Liberation Victoria. They are wonderful people. They take a harder line than most which means they won't suggest free-rage eggs in the call against caged systems - that link of thing.
Their protests tend to be loud and media interesting - there was a lot of interest though we weren't there for long.

Hi Alistair! Another great picture! I think we have a thread on animal lib activities, but you are free to start new threads if you can't find one that suits you.
If I find the thread I'm thinking of, I'll move your post there.

 Hi Alistair. Thanks for that photo. Very poignant. What was the response of the general public when they saw the demo?

Loud voices get noticed.
