Along with a couple of other online vegans, I've decided to have a raw weekend this weekend.

So wallet in hand, went down to Tesco last night and bought loads of organic goodies and a blender and so far on my first day have had a:

Apple, raspberry, strawberry and banana smoothie

Apple, raspberry, strawberry and blueberry smoothie

Salad, with cilantro (corriander..... yuck, but with my history of metal poisoning, will make myself eat it) rocket, lettuce, tomato, yellow pepper, mixed raw sprouts, cucumber and mixed seeds. Feel like I need some kind of dressing on it though as a little bland... something vinegary, will have to get looking.

Anyway, will let you know how I get on. Hopefully will be going more and more raw as time goes on and I buy a dehydrator and learn recipes.:)

Did I spot you on a raw forum recently tiggerwoos?? :agree: I lurk around several at the moment :dark:

I am currently trying to eat more raw and manage about 2/3 of the day raw with one meal cooked - its the best I can do for the moment.

I know some folk can just launch into it but I wouldn't get that much support at home so for me its the slow lane for now.

Today I had a huge salad and I just put flax oil, small sprinkling of dried nori flakes, lemon juice, s&p on top.

I read somewhere recently about making dressings that if you put some oil in a jamjar with some crushed garlic and whatever else you like, say lemon or lime juice, dried or fresh chillies, dried or fresh herbs, really shake it up and pop it in the fridge for a few hours, it will marinate and be a great oil dressing.

You can always make an avocado creamy dressing but whizzing an avo, tsp tahini, some olive oil, s & p, herbs if you like , whizz it till its smooth and add more oil or lemon juice to make it thinner!

Good luck :crossfingers:

Yes, that was me (hides in corner) Yet another forum to lurk on while I'm skiving at work!

That's brilliant that you've started to eat more raw. Same with me at home. My bf loves juices and salads, but think he probably would like to have some hot meals, although he did prepare seperate meals for us yesterday as I didn't feel too well.

They're brilliant ideas for the dressings... Thanks! Would never have thought of them. I have some avocados that I bought yesterday, so will eat them for the first time today.

Let me know how you're getting on, so we can share tips and advice!:)

One of my favorite oil-free raw dressings is to juice some tomato, cucumber, and celery, add just a bit of lemon, onion and garlic, and either a tiny bit of apple or grape, not enough to make it sweet, but enough to balance the flavor. Somehow, the addition of the apple or grape makes the whole concoction much tastier. Quantities are flexible, according to your taste. (That's usually how I make stuff. I hardly ever follow recipes :o ). Some Nama Shoyu may be added if the celery isn't salty enough.

Like the dressing idea, Fauxmage. It also sounds relatively simple for my poor brain!:agree:

Well, I've really enjoyed my first day and discovered an addiction to avacado..... Mmm, could eat 'em all day long. This is what I wolfed down me yesterday!:

*Tons of water
*strawberry, apple, raspberry and banana smoothie
*strawberry, blueberry, apple and raspberry smoothie
*salad of rocket, corriander, yellow pepper, freshly sprouted beans, tomatoes, cucumber and mixed seeds
*another smoothie of strawberries, raspberries apple and banana
*a salad of avocado...... Mmmmmm my new addiction, celery, tomato and cucumber, apple juice
*dates.

Watch this space!

Great job, all! I love having high raw days and it works best for me in Summer too.

My favorite raw dressing is just what was suggested above*...except I don't let it marinate much...I usually make it fresh and toss it on directly!

*fresh pressed garlic, Udo's or Flax oil, sometimes herbs and always loads of lemon juice

Can't wait to get some dressing. The ones you mentioned sound yummy Delcious.

Well, I completed my raw weekend yesterday and ate:

*Portion of dates
*Banana
*Punnet of raspberries
*Smoothie with coconut, apple, banana and melon
*Smoothie with coconut, melon, raspberry and apple
*Few more dates
*Salad with avocado, raw corn, lettuce, spinach, corriander, tomato, onion, cucumber and celery
*Tons of water

I know I said I was only going to do the weekend, but I'm on to my third day of it now! Is definitely worth trying and I'd recommend everyone to try and incorporate more raw into their lifestyle. I feel so much more awake for it.

I'll watch this space, cause I'm currious about raw food, and just got my first foodprocessor this weekend :nanakiss:

You can say that again. Not gonna bore everyone with what I ate today, but will stick a link to my raw food jounal in my signature if anyone wants to see how I'm getting on, if that's ok.

Onto my 4th day now and toddling off now through the aisles of internet shopping to order a dehydrator and hemp milk maker.
