View Full Version : Do you have an inner clock?

My husband and I have one for our anniversary which is July 4th. We become SO much more energetic, hyper, silly, playful, and happy early June/late May. And then that reminds us that it's time to make our travel arrangements and plans. We use to always go stay at a beach. Our favorite thing we do now is go stay in a log cabin in the mountains.

I also know when it's about 3:00pm without looking at the clock. This is really crazy and I don't know why, but that's the time of day I want my man, without fail, so I know what time it is! :D

Do any of y'all have an "inner clock" and in what way?

My inner clock is weird, I almost always wake up at the same time (7am) without an alarm clock even before I had the toddler alarm clock :beanie: :beanie:. I also seem to glance at digital clocks quite often when it's 8:29 which is my birthday. I stopped wearing a watch over 10 years ago because I found that I'm pretty accurate with knowing what time it was without one.

Yes, I do too. I never need to set an alarm, no matter what time I have to get up. I am very good at estimating any time of day, and I am never more than five minutes off when I check my watch. I also often find myself glancing at a digital time display at 3:51 in the afternoon, which is the time of day I was born. :rubchin:

I'm generally pretty good at knowing about how long has passed (minute wise) even without a watch and I usually wake up about the same time every day w/o an alarm clock. I also have an irritating "inner clock" in that I know when I have to be somewhere and can't seem to get places earlier than when I have to be there even when I want to. (I.e., I often think, "I should go to work early and clean my office up," but end up barely getting ready in time to get there when I have to be:whistle: )

Not sure if this qualifies as an "inner clock" thing, but I am acutely aware of the approach of autumn - regardless of what the calender says. And I get kind of melancholy around sunset, whether I'm outdoors or not.

Me too, Phoenix. There is a certain point in late summer when the quality of the daylight changes, and I realize autumn is near, and get blue.

That's very true of me too. I never wear a watch. My friends in middle school used to test my biological clock and randomly ask me what time it is... someone even wrote about my inner clock in my yearbook

I don't have an inner alarm clock, though, I love to  and wouldn't wake up on time when I have to go somewhere without an alarm clock...

Really? I just looovvveee autumn! Which is weird, because I have to go up north to enjoy the colors of it. We don't have much of a real Fall down here. I love the colors and everything seems to slow down and feel more peaceful. I love feeling the cool breeze as it finally blows in, and the earthy smells in the air. It also reminds me to stop and enjoy memories, and I love remembering the past...well, the good parts anyway. I also love the smell of burning leaves, and watching the kids jump into a pile (not burning :D ). And think about how it won't be long and I can snuggle up with hubby in front of a fire place, or sit around a bonfire with good friends. :friends: :smallheart:

Just the usual. I always wake up at six thirty when I go to school, and nine thirty when I don't. Otherwise I must have someone wake me. My grandma does enjoy waking people up. :rollingpin:

Other than that, I never know how much time has passed. However, I can rarely be seen wearing a watch. I tend to look at my cell phone instead, if I must really know what time it is.

I love fall too and then winter. It's summer that makes me blue...I know it's the opposite of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) because the heat and brightness of summer actually seem oppressive to me, so I'm more likely to be a bit moody:devilangel: In the fall I especially feel GREAT when the temperature is cool and its a bit cloudy:yea: And in the winter if it snows I love it...now ice I can do without!

Oh Fauxmage, that's so sad! :comfort: I love autumn, like Peas ... it probably got a lot to do with living in a stinking hot climate. I prefer the cold weather. :agree:

Oh I love foggy San Francisco! Its not the weather that makes me blue, its the day length. I don't like it when it gets dark early, and I don't like having to get out of bed early in the morning if the sun's not up yet. So I get pretty sensitive to the changing light in late summer. Its not as bad as it used to be, though. :)
