I have a cavity in one of my teeth, and it's causing a SEVERE toothache. Any natural remedies you can think of to help me until I can make it to the dentist?

Toothache is horrible.
Make it to the dentist.
I have had my tooth pulled at an emergency dentist and it really wasn't that bad. A split second of pain and thats all.

Essential oil of cloves. Just drop some on there, or use a cotton swab.

I've heard of cloves being used.
This site mentions them and some other remedies:
Clove Oil
If you have clove oil, put it on your tooth. If you have a broken tooth and can actually get the clove oil down into the cavity of the tooth, this works even better, according to Myhomeremedies.com.
Halls Cough Drops
Put three Halls cough drops into your mouth. Use the ones that taste more like medicine than candy. Let the cough drops melt in your mouth. Delay swallowing for as long as you can.
Sore Throat Spray and Pain Relievers
Take advantage of the numbing qualities of sore throat relief spray by spraying some onto a cotton ball and biting down on it. You can also take two Tylenol and four ibuprofen at the same time. (Ask your dentist if he recommends this.)
Whiskey and Extracts
Take a shot of whiskey. Hold the liquid in your mouth so that it covers the bad tooth. Relief is immediate, but it will only last for 10 to 20 minutes. Vanilla extract, almond extract and peppermint extract also will soothe the pain because of the alcohol content in these items.
Ice
Grandmashomeremedies.com recommends rubbing ice over the tooth. The coldness overcomes the pain impulses that travel along nerve pathways.
Onion
Place a tiny piece of onion against the gum or on the tooth. Onion possesses antibacterial properties which slay germs that are present in the mouth. This may ease your pain.
Salt and Pepper
Mix salt and pepper and apply this to the tooth. This will decrease the sensitivity of the tooth. Rinsing your mouth with saltwater also may help.
Baking Soda or Pepper Seeds
Put 1 tsp. baking soda into a cup of water and use this as a mouthwash. Wrap black pepper seeds in muslin or other material and hold this against your bad tooth, according to Grannymed.com.
You might find relief by chewing fresh guava leaves or date palm root. You can also blanch the date palm root in water and drink it.
Or, dip a cotton swab into marjoram oil and place the saturated swab against your tooth.

So. I went to the dentist today. I'm apparently going to need a root canal and a crown if I want to save the tooth. With insurance, it's going to cost me $556.50. Without insurance, it would have been $1290.00. I'm glad I've got insurance, but I still feel kinda like I'm getting bent over the table without any lubricant.
Oh well.
Root canal appointment is scheduled for the 25th. Hope I can make it that long.

I hope it goes well, Three. Perhaps one of the methods for reducing the ache will help.

So, I just had enough. I had the tooth pulled. I was in so much pain, and the cost was just not worth it to me (at this point).
It's still sore, but absolutely NOTHING like it was.
Kinda feels weird not having a tooth in that spot. Hehe.

I hope the pain goes away soon. Are you taking anything to dull it?

Yeah, I take pain meds for fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis in my knee, so they're helping with the tooth (area) pain. :)
I'm doing okay, thankfully.
