Need to figure out meal at restaurant

It's a big family do coming up and the restaurant has asked that I supply them with a dish to cook for me...

Hell, I have no idea!

I don't want something too complicated... you know, being inconsiderate asking them to buy in stuff they may never use again...

But I don't want something too simple or boring that I cook at home, otherwise, what's the point? lol

I kinda want a mushroom lasagne but that's not really an option, that comes under too complicated.

Anyways, need ideas! What kinds of dishes do you enjoy if you go out to restaurants? What might you choose?

I don't dine out so I can't suggest dishes. Could you get one of their menus to see what they typically serve and then look for one that's easy to veganise?

Spaghetti bolognaise? All they need is soya mince really and make sure the sauce contains no milk, and the pasta no egg. And they could add a side salad too.
