Couldn't be bothered to make a new thread, but this is pretty much the conversation:
Me: I wasn't a very good vegetarian... I didn't realise until late about gelatin in sweets or rennet in cheese
Vegetarian: Is there gelatin in jello shots?
Me: Yeah, I think so
Vegetarian: No more jello shots for me then!
Vegetarian: I'm more ambiguous about rennet, animals arent killed for their rennet
Me: how can you object to gelatin but not to rennet? I don't suppose animals are killed for their gelatin either
Vegetarian: ...
Someone else then pointed out that rennet is a by-product of veal production and Oh God! Cheese dilemma!
*facepalm*

There are probably some people who think farm animals aren't killed to get meat.

I once told people who were awwing over the calf of a dairy cow just what happens to calves... they were suitably horrified lol
