Ok, I'll start by asking a question, and then the next person answers it, and asks a question of their own.

Who wants to go next? ;)

Gliondrach
01-29-2010, 08:15 AM
Isn't it true that we can think about thinking and a thought could be about the fact that it is a thought?

Blueshark
01-29-2010, 10:10 AM
Possibly - but I think your post is deliberately made to confuse. Indeed you have not only answered with a question, but you have phrased your question with mixed tenses, metaphysics and pseudo-science. It is down to me, to put this game back on track.

Have you tried Rice Dream (chilled) yet?

Doughnut
01-29-2010, 10:16 AM
No, in fact I don't think I have ever tried rice milk at all.

Have you ever ordered a cheese-less pizza?

Blueshark
01-29-2010, 10:23 AM

Gliondrach

Why are you sad people at your computers on a Friday night?

Doughnut
01-30-2010, 03:10 AM
What better way to spend your Friday night on a forum with three active members. It's almost like being on Red Dwarf

How do you cook your jacket potatos: Microwave / Oven / Combo / Other ?

Gliondrach
01-30-2010, 03:49 AM
The only way I cook potatoes is by cooking them in a stew. I have never usd a microwave machine, my oven doesn't work and I don't wear combinations. But I have baked potatoes in a real fire - sometimes by just bunging them into the embers and sometimes by wrapping them in tin foil and putting them in until they are done. But it is many years since I last did such a thing.

Who would you most not want to go on a walking holiday with - Adolf Hitler, Joe Stalin or Tony Blair?

Doughnut

Tony Blair because he could at least speak English.

When you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn?

Blueshark
01-30-2010, 05:30 AM
A Smurf will start singing when you choke it. Unlike men, smurfs have gills and thus are immune to choking. The singing is a reflex action.

If it was 12 o'clock in London, and midnight in Auckland, what time would it be at the centre of the earth?

Gliondrach
01-30-2010, 02:53 PM
It would be the same time as it is in London Town or, more accurately, at Greenwich because that is where Time starts and the Greenwich Meridian, if you drew a line down immediately below it, would pass through the centre of the Earth. So do all other meridians but the Greenwich one is the chief one upon which all the others are based.

If you were in a life boat from a sunken ship and there was only water enough for 4 people but 5 people were in the boat - Tony Blair, George D. D. Bush, Mr Peter Mandelson, a vivisector who was also an experienced sailor. and you - who would you throw out?

Blueshark
01-30-2010, 03:23 PM
I am a strong swimmer..and small talk was never my stong point so...

Who would you rather marry - Alicia Silverstone or Natalie Portman (assuming you could) ?

Doughnut
01-30-2010, 04:30 PM
Alicia Silverstone. I know both are vegan but I just suspect I would get on better with Alicia. Or perhaps I could become a Mormon and marry them both.

If you were immortal and had to live for ever in a bubble floating in space would you choose to do so alone or with someone else and if so who?

Gliondrach
01-31-2010, 04:54 AM
I am already immortal. And we all live in the bubble of our consciousness, so that everything we experience is constructed by us to represent outside doings. Even the sights we see are created by us from electrical wotsits that represent the images that fall upon out retinas. So, we are already floating in our own bubbles, cut off from everyone and everything that is not us, only experiencing these other ones and things second hand. To answer your question: I could not choose because in choosing I would be choosing to choose an illusion of choosing what is, in reality, an illusion created by my brain to represent the reality outside myself.

Have you ever walked on stilts?

Blueshark
01-31-2010, 06:28 AM

Gliondrach

Olive oil. I already do, in fact, bathe in olive oil from time to time. This is probably why my skin has been likened to that of a baby whale.

If your house was on fire, and you could only save one thing, apart from yourself, what one thing would you save?

Blueshark
01-31-2010, 10:41 AM
My collection of shoes. My shoes were handmade by an African Pygmy Tribe in gratitude, after I saved the lives of the villager's children during an hurricance when I was 12. That would be all, and maybe an apple if I could sneak it.

If you had to, who would you rather kiss - Gary Francione or Nigella Lawson?

Gliondrach

Do you know what to do if you wander into a patch of quicksand and, if you do know, what would you do?

If you could be any age again for one week, what age would you be?

Gliondrach
02-01-2010, 04:42 AM
I don't think I would want to be any other age than what I am. I feel exactly the same as I did when I wasn't this age. But I have more experience and, believe it or not, much more wisdom than I had when I didn't have so much as what I have now.

But, if I must choose, it would probably be 22.

Can you prove that ET was based on true events - on pain of death?

Gliondrach
02-02-2010, 03:35 PM
If by 'ET' you mean 'extra terrestrial' and not the French or Latin word for 'and' then yes I can. In 1958 Major Llewellyn Arbuthnot-Wildgoose of the Green Howards, took half his company to investigate strange events on the Yorkshire Moors. His company sergeant-major, Albert Tatlock (no relation to the famous one), disappeared for 2 months. When he returned to barracks he had a strange tale to tell. What he said was immediately classified and was marked as not to be revealed for 30 years. In 1989 the story could finally be told but I haven't heard it so I can't say what it was all about. But you asked for proof and there you are.

All I know is that it proves that there is life beyond this planet.

Have you ever sported an earring?

Dam...I guess I would have to go with the cravat,

When was the last time you sniffed brown stuff to assess if it was poop or mud?

Gliondrach
02-03-2010, 08:21 AM
I think it was last year when I saw a suspicious-looking deposit on the heel of my shoe. It wasn't malodorous so I concluded it was mud.

Blueshark
02-03-2010, 08:37 AM
I prefer a stripey tie.

Gliondrach

Have you ever had a moustache or a beard?

Doughnut
02-05-2010, 10:25 AM
I don't know what a smartphone is. I suppose it's a combination of a mobile one and a computer machine. I use an ordinary one that is plugged into a thing on the wall.

Do you think the mind is formless?

I would gnaw on the noodle like some crazy hungry rat.

What was the last book you read that you recommend?

Gliondrach
02-05-2010, 04:15 PM
The Dark is Rising, by Susan Cooper. It is a children's book but I enjoy reading it every time I read it. It is the second in the series called The Dark is Rising, and is actually called The Dark is Rising, as is the whole series of 5 books. Young Will realises he is an Old One, even though he is a young one. On the eve of his Midwinter birthday he learns about the battle between the Dark and the Light. He is on the side of the Light, but, he learns the Dark is rising and he must take his place in the battle to save the Earth from eternal rule by the Dark. There are more shifts in time and dimension than you can shake a stick at.

Are you tempted to read the book wot I just recommended?

One Cool Vegan
02-05-2010, 04:28 PM

Gliondrach
02-05-2010, 04:38 PM

Probably a stranger. But I am not easy to kill.

What Super Power would you most like to have?

One Cool Vegan
02-05-2010, 05:22 PM

Superpower:to be invisible.

Would you rather know how you're going to die or when you're going to die ((I know this is the second question I've asked related to death, I'm not usually this morbid, but I'm just going with whatever comes to mind)

Doughnut
02-05-2010, 05:50 PM
I have never been born so I can not die.

Do you think postmen have contempt for the person who delivers their mail?

Gliondrach
02-06-2010, 03:16 AM
I was a postman at one time. The current troubles in the Post Office are said to be the results of my actions all those years ago. But I deny this. When I was a postie, I had neither contempt nor admiration for the man, Peter, who used to deliver my letters. I worked alongside him - well, a few yards apart - in the central sorting office. I have fond memories of walking to work on a Summer's morining at about 4.30. The birds were singing, chip papers were flying around in the breeze and, on a Saturday morning, the smell of vomit wafted from dark corners where the revellers of the night before had gone to spew up their beer, pork scratchings and crisps.

We were dedicated, hardworking and professional in our outlook, unlike the shower they have working for them now.

Should the railways, water supplies, electricity, gas and postal service be renationalised (or if you live in a country where they never were nationalsed, should they be nationalised?)?

Doughnut
02-06-2010, 03:25 AM
I don't know much about this other then I know as tax payers we still pay to prop these things up anyway. I could be convinced either way if someone buys me a pint and some crisps.

Do you think peoples beliefs should be respected?

Blueshark
02-06-2010, 03:42 AM

What are you most sensitive about your appearance?

Gliondrach
02-06-2010, 03:56 AM
I don't think I'm sensitive about anything, not even my reduced hair. Perhaps my limp, but that is improving. I am sensitive about it because it makes me look ordinary instead of the powerful, strong and fit beast that I am.

What is your favourite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Doughnut
02-06-2010, 04:06 AM
Corrupting female buddhist monks while they chant my name or a nice walk in the country.

How do you prepare your perfect cup of tea?

Gliondrach
02-06-2010, 04:14 AM
I must confess that I use a strainer in the mug. I use the tea leaves that I used to make the previous one because there is still some strength in them. I let them soak for a minute and then put fresh leaves in. I let them soak for a couple of minutes. I use them again for the next cup. And so on. In this cold weather the tea gets cold quickly so I put the cup and stainer on the gas ring that I used to heat the water and cover it with the lid from the saucepan I used to heat the water in. I don't have a normal kettle - I use a saucepan. Easier to clean than a kettle and I can't be botherd to buy a new kettle.

Does God need defending?

Blueshark
02-06-2010, 05:53 AM

If you bought a current bun and ate it but realised it only contained two currents what emotion would you be feeling?

Blueshark
02-06-2010, 06:17 AM

Would you rather have a football or an x-box 360 if you were alone on an island? (assume the x-box worked)

Gliondrach
02-06-2010, 07:33 AM

Beer or wine?

Neither. Tea. But if I had to choose, I suppose it would be a dash of beer and lots of dashes of lemonade.

If you founded your own religion, what would it be called and what would be the main teaching?

Doughnut
02-06-2010, 03:50 PM
It would be called 'Bollockanity' and the main teaching would be that truth can not be caged by the walls of religious ideologies and that every member must pay me 10% of their earnings with out question.

Which artists work do you like?

Gliondrach
02-06-2010, 04:07 PM
I like some of Vinnie van Gogh's paintings. Not so much for their technical qualities but for their vibrancy. I don't know if that is the right word but it looks good, and I'm not really the arty type who analyses why they like something. I like some of Rembrandt van Rijn's work. And that other Dutch bloke whose paintings have very good light effects. Vermeer, I think. And some of the Impressionists. And one or two of the PreRaphaelites, but more for the subject matter than the painting. But I admire Fuzzy's paintings most of all because they have real soul, man, and an honesty that has been lost from modern painting. They are truly hep.

Would you rather be a master cabinetmaker or a master stone mason?

Blueshark
02-07-2010, 04:50 AM

Would you prefer to be a Tribal Chief or a Chief Superintendent?

Gliondrach
02-07-2010, 05:58 AM
I have been invited many time to become a tribal chief but have always declined. I would rather be a tribal chief than a Chief Super because there would be more prestige. They take anyone in the police force these days, so being one of the bosses is not all it's cracked up to be.

Will you be watching the Winter Olympics or do you find it boring to watch people on skis, skates and sledges?

Doughnut
02-07-2010, 10:27 AM

Blueshark
02-07-2010, 11:38 AM
The slalom. I am naturally talented with the gifts of speed, endurance and fast reflex so this sport would naturally compliment me.

Would you rather go on a camping holiday in Cornwall or a walking holiday in Bavaria?

Doughnut
02-08-2010, 03:36 AM

Have you ever been to America?

Gliondrach
02-08-2010, 06:29 AM

Doughnut
02-08-2010, 09:39 AM

Why do Buddhists think it's okay to pay people to kill baby animals so they can steal their milk but also consider themselves compassionate?

Gliondrach
02-08-2010, 10:55 AM
I don't know. Possibly due to ignorance. When I say 'possibly due to ignorance', I don't mean my lack of knowledge as to their behaviour is due to my ignorance - though it may be - I mean that they are possibly ignorant.

In which sport would you like to be a top professional?

Blueshark
02-08-2010, 02:14 PM

If you had no cooking facilities for a week, what would you eat for dinner?

Gliondrach
02-08-2010, 03:36 PM
Baked bean sandwiches. I never heat the beans up. Although I did yesterday. I heated them in the open tin over the gas flame. Saves on having to wash a pan. Or I could have bread with tahini. I already eat lots of nuts and raisins. I often go for days without doing any cooking apart from making toast. So I could survive very nicely without cooking facilities. When you are as resourceful and tough as wot I am, you can survive anywhere with anything.

Gliondrach
02-11-2010, 04:11 AM
No, we should stay as vegans because of the origins of the word and its connection with a very great man whose name was used to construct it. And it's easier to spell. And costs less to send in telegrams. Uses less ink to write. Fits more easily on t-shirts. Rhymes with more things. And the name of this forum wouldn't have to change.

Gliondrach
02-11-2010, 05:57 AM
Well apart from not trusting anything the man says, and not knowing much about university degrees - as the likes of me could never have aspired to go to such places as universities - but having heard from a couple of people who said that students don't spend much time studying, I would tend to believe that it might be possible to do a degree in two years. If I was to do one, it would take me about 8 months. And that would be to PhD level.

Describe the range and type of drinking glasses you have?

Gliondrach
02-11-2010, 05:17 PM
I have four or five small novelty glasses that came from somewhere many years ago. A glass to commemorate the occasion of the coronation of Elizabeth Windsor-Battenberg, and what looks like a half-pint beer glass but actually contained nuttelo chocolate spread. Again, that is very old. I usually drink everything out of a mug - fruit juice, tea, coffee, cocoa, chamomile, mate, water. But not usually all at the same time.

And three glasses that have patterns on them. One has yellow stars. One has three thin blue rings. And one has white stars. They are also very old and were bought in India or Malaya when we were defending the Empire against communists, nationalists, and other troublemakers.

Do you eat off plain white plates or do they have a colour or pattern?

Doughnut
02-12-2010, 03:11 AM
Mostly plain white ones but I also bought some clear glass plates because I had a childhood memory of them. Clear glass plates are not every good to eat off and they don't wash very easily so I would not recommend them to anyone.

What was the last thing you bought from the www?

Blueshark
02-12-2010, 09:02 AM
I think evolution occurs when a species needs to adapt to a changed environment. However this process takes hundred of thousands of years. I don't think we see human evolution anytime soon, because currently we just invent a tool for any particular need.

Can maths describe an emotion?

Gliondrach
02-17-2010, 07:54 AM
Not unless all the chemical and electrical signals that are associated with the emotion (but which might just be indicators and not causative factors) and the length of time they are happening can be quantified and assigned to only that emotion and not a bit of indigestion that is going on at the same time. And even then the answer might be 'no'.

What is you earliest unhappy memory?

Gliondrach
02-19-2010, 03:52 PM
Probably when I was aged five on my first day at school. My sister, who went to the same school, said she'd collect me at dinner time to take me home. She was late. I felt abandoned and lost. When she did turn up and took me home I refused to go back. My mother decided to let me stay off because we would soon be moving house and I would be going to a different school. I wasn't very happy at the other school, either. I escaped during the first break and went home. This second unhappy memory is also tinged with a feeling of triumph because I displayed my natural cunning and an unerring sense of direction. A girl was swinging on the gate and as I sauntered through I told her that I would be back in a minute. This was to allay any suspicions that I was absconding, as she might have reported me. Then I successfully navigated my way home. A journey I had only made once - earlier that morning - and in the opposite direction. My mother took me back, though. From an early age I have displayed initiative, daring, coolness in dangerous situations, planning, and the ability to outwit all those who oppose me.

At what age did you realise you could do things other people couldn't - even something as simple as tying your shoe laces when your contemporaries couldn't?

What is your favourite and worst UK city/town that you have visited?

Gliondrach
02-20-2010, 05:48 AM
I think London Town is the worst because it is so big, and is shabbier in real life than how it appears on telly. The best I've been to is probably the Nottingham area because there is nice countrside nearby, especially near Attenborough. When I was at Attenborough I thought I might see David or Richard but they must have been elsewhere. Hexham is also very nice but the people are Geordie-types, which spoils it a bit. And Porlock in Somerset is nice. Also Richmond in Yorkshire but I think I like it because some of my genes come from there as they do also from Hexham. Oh, and St Ives in Huntingdonshire is nice - especially near the river. I think it was St. Ives. The place I'm thinking about has a statue of Oliver Cromwell. I love the English countryside. But it has to be the Midlands or the South. If I saw a picture of somewhere nice in northern England I would think it was nice until I learned that it was the North, whereupon I would think it wasn't so nice. To me, the spirit of England is further to the south. I would like to have a country house in East Anglia or the Oxfordshire area.

Has there been anyone, not related to you, who has had a great influence on you?

Gliondrach

I have never been cheated. A company tried a few years ago when they didn't send a book I ordered. I went to the County Court, and the court sent them a letter. They ignored it so I told the court to send the bailiffs in. I received my money back. The company ended up paying me my money, the court for their time and the bailiffs.

Although I do have a niggling feeling I was cheated once.
