I'm getting a bit of a bloat problem. Maybe I'm eating something I shouldn't or something, but for the past few months I've ended up getting a rather rounded tummy and I'm not sure what to do about it.

Are there any foods I shouldn't be eating (in a general sense?) Or any foods good for counteracting bloat? Or activities/alternative remedies etc?

(And before anyone asks, and maybe they would lol, unless it is the second coming of Jesus, I am not pregnant)

My mom used to get that way from eating raw onions.

Carbonated beverages will do it too.

Chewing caraway seed or anise seed is supposed to help. Or making tea from those seeds.

You'll probably have to do some detective work and see what does it yourself. Go on a short elimination diet consisting of things like rice, pears, rice milk, all non-allergenic stuff, then add foods slowly back, one at a time, and see what happens after you eat each new thing. Kind of a pain in the butt, but it does work.

As well as BWM's suggestions, exercise could help. Even regular walks. Is there any pain? Some say that excess sodium can cause bloating. Does your food contain a lot of salt? Ready-made meals often do.

Keep a food diary to see if eating anything in particular leads to bloating.

Thanks guys :)

It can be painful when I'm REALLY bloated and I can feel the gas going round like caterpillars lol but mainly I just look rather rounded. Dunno about salt, but I've had my suspicions that I might be intolerant to salt anyway because of mouth ulcers. I've noticed as well that things like potato make me feel really sluggish. I'll try to make a note of stuff.

Many years ago I kept a food diary. I kept it for more than a year. Even if I had a biscuit at 11 a.m., it went in. I still have the notebooks somewhere.

Once or twice I have had some sort of bloating when I have gone without food for many hours. That was painful. I think I felt better after eating. This hasn't happened in many years.

Food wise I usually feel bloated after eating way too much. Other than that no specific foods have ever given me that feeling...and XD @ coming of jesus.

Salt would cause water retention, which is different from gaseous bloating, and would also show in your hands, feet, legs, and face. An easier fix, if that's what you think it is.
