I have just tried this tofu-to-go stuff, called Pete's tofu2go, sensibly enough! Its quite tasty, though I didn't expect it to be. Its the "Thai Tango" flavor. I have never been fond of tofu, but this is pretty good, even cold. I got it at Safeway, and it is nice to see that a person can drop in and find something convenient to eat that is healthy and vegan at a mainstream grocery store. Yay for healthy vegan fast food!

Will give them a go thanks:) , have seen some of their products in a few health food stores. Do they do tofu snacks like that?
Have just had a reply from the tofu co.
Hi Clare
Thank you very much for your email. To answer your question we do not ship to the UK as of yet. Not sure if it would be in the plans for the future. As a company we have been around for 50 years, but we only ship in Canada and US. If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.
Best regards,

This is what is available in my area:
Tofu in oil which can be used in salads or cooking:

That tofu in oil looks interesting, I've never seen anything like that here.

It's very interesting. The taste is different from tofu in water. It's a bit less salty. I find that I like it better. The oil in it is also useful, and it smells good too. And at the bottom of the jar, there are small bits of nuts and red pepper. I add them to salads.

:) It's quite easy to become vegan here, especially when it comes to food.
I've found nearer places to shop, by the way! Also vegan-friendly restaurants. Most will make some if you ask.
However, there is only one company that makes soy foods, for all I know. No competition, it seems!
P.S. Also good in salads that require cheese, spaghetti, with fake sausages, or simply in sandwiches.

I tried Sunergia's Lemon Oregano Soy Feta (http://www.sunergiasoyfoods.com/html/soy_feta.html) recently. I wouldn't say it's fanastic but it's good. I had it on crackers with chopped olives. It is a bit dry but has a nice flavor. I'm sure it would taste great on a salad. There are a few good recipes on their site as well. I read a review of this product in Veg News and they mentioned that the company is working on a vegan blue cheeze. :hungry:
Mmm vegan blue cheese, :yum: they look like they do some good products ive just emailed them asking if they suppliy over here,:yum:

Sunrice Tofu products:
sunrice.net/index.html
I think they're local (Seattle) and I don't know if any of you can get their stuff.
I've had two or three of their meals. My favorite is the super spicy marinated tofu and rice. I eat it cold (I really like cold, but cooked, tofu).
PCC carries their stuff, and probably west coast Whole Foods.

I would be happy to be a Texas rep. here for HEB products. It's a major chain here and for those of us not near a Whole Foods, a Super HEB, and Walmart are all we have. Those in north Texas have a short supply of HEB's, it's other chains there.
Fake meat and cheese are expensive! Here is what I found at my HEB tho, so far all I saw was the Soy Taco. http://www.friedas.com/index.cfm?show=products_category&side=products&category=Vegetarian%20Items
I have the soy taco one, I'll have it and let you know how it tastes. I scanned it, but for it to go here, I have to send it to photobucket or something, and can't just add it from the computor scan. Shoot.
HEB has more brands than this, I will write them down and report on them later. It will be a few days, weather stinks now. They are in the produce dept. As for Walmart, yeah, I know they have the right wing under their thumb or the other way 'round. Still, they took away all our tofu and have NO soy cheese or meats, no nothin at all.

Her name is Ayla. Like Ayla from Clan Of The Cavebear series. A strong female character for a strong little weenie. :) I won several honorable mentions with that photo, no money tho. lol
She is awesome. My first weenie. I have two other dogs, so altogether, I have a small, medium and large. They are on my page at: http://www.soulgardencollective.tv/profile/FreeFlowingJoy

Yes, Max and Zoomie. Zoomie has the blue tongue and cute scalloped ears. She is part Sharpai. Max is pyrneese and a spaniel of some kind.

Thanks. She smiles and chuckles a *lot*. All my fur kids are my partners and family. They are brilliant, know tons of words since I talk to them like they are sentient. And honestly, they are. Dogs are self aware. They know they are dogs.
I proudly tell people about my pac. I am like one of those people you meet on the street and they hafta show ya 50 million pictures of their kids right then and there. :)
But back to tofu. I think I sabatoged this thread.

I found a new to me tofu brand today called Azumaya. I bought it in silken format and I love it. It's better to me than the silken in the box. It comes in the plastic tub and is all degrees of firmness. I wanted the silken to make mayo with and it whipped up GREAT, with just a wire whisp. I made wasabi mayo. I don't think I want any other kind of silken now. I can't wait untill I make desserts with this stuff.

It's been years since I had any tofu. I think the last time was when I made scrambled tofu on toast.

When I touch fresh tofu it has the same firmness as Megan Foxe's right breast. I am not ashamed to say I have made love to tofu before and my guests still said it tasted nice. I did tell them that I love this tofu and they all seemed okay with that.
Tofu ...mmmm :colors:

I keep buying silken tofu and keep thinking what the hell are you meant to do with it? In the end I find it is best used to fill my water bed which has now become a silken tofu bed. It wibbles quite nicely and allows me to get a good nights sleep because it's like I am floating on a giant bed of silken tofu which basically I am.
It's good being vegan with all this tofu about.

All the wobbling and the heat from your body might turn it into soya cheese.

Eww...I hope not but I guess I could always sell it as a new vegan cheese on the internet to Vegans. I could even say 'hand made soy cheese made with love' which would sort of be true. :psing:

Anyone want a free soy cheese sample?
I can't get myself to like tofu. I've tried it a few times and I find it horrid. The hard kind looks like a sponge and the soft kind is all wobbly like funny jello. I don't think I will ever acquire a taste for it.

Have you ever had smoked tofu? It tastes quite nice but I couldn't eat a lot of it.
