My latest project is infra red photography. Basically you get a filter to stick on the front of your lens which only lets IR light through. After a bit of processing you het some weird B+W images

Nice and otherwordly, Andy! They resemble negatives.
So, since infra red light is actually heat, which are the hottest areas? The lightest?

Keep 'em coming. We'll let you know when we get tired. ;)

I really like those - especially the 3rd one - the trees/bushes in the distance look like smoke.

Its not quite as simple as that. The light that 'infra red' photography responds to is technically 'near infra red' which has a shorter wavelength than 'true' infra red. Its the latter that is heat and can be picked up on thermal imaging cameras.

Also, near infra red is reflected and true infra red is radiated. For some reason green foliage reflects the most near infra red so thats why leaves show as white.

Stupid question but is that actually a pristine, nature scene? Thing is, I could take a B&W shot around here that looks like that but it would actually be the run off from a power plant and in real life, the water is a sickening torquoise and smells like a sewer system. :blecch:

Bowwowmeow

That one has an unusual three-dimensional quality to it.

Its actually called the Mill Lakes and the lake was made by damning a small river to drive waterwheels for foundries. So it is actually reclaimed industrial land. Across the road is the reclaimed colliery site, where I took my power station pic from.

Me neither. It looks so clean too though the tube is 1000X cleaner than the NYC subway.

Yes, it could be a winner. Very clever. The prize doesn't also include new windows, does it?

veggiesosage

No, its not a voting one, believe me I would have mentioned it if it was :D

I bought the glasses special thus further reducing the net value of the prize...

I do get the sensation that you are looking at something that is creeping up just behind my left shoulder though.

Tails, I am thinking of painting from some of my photos, and giving those as gifts instead of the actual prints.

Are you still painting, by the way? You should share some of your works with us. You can email pictures of them to me if you can't figure out how to post.

This isn't really a black and white photo, but the fog was so thick it drained all the color out of the scenery. This is looking east from the beach toward the mouth of the Russian River as it rushes into the sea.

We can get some very thick heavy mists that sit right on the ground, and you can't see ten feet in front of you. It all burned off by noon though.
