My friends daughter works for the police in Birmingham and on Fri found an abandoned Staffordshire bull terrier. He has been seen by the RSPCA and they think he is about 18-24 months old. He is in good health, friendly and well trained/house trained.

He is with my friend and daughter at the moment as they could not put him in a rescue or the dogs home/pound. They are out at work full time so Its just not possible for them to keep him.

I will get photos soon.

If you know of anyone who could offer a home or foster this dog please PM me, he is at the moment in the Stourbridge area of the West Midlands.

Trying to help and to keep him out of the rescues/pound/dogs home, if anyone knows of any rescues with spaces in case we cant find a home could you also let me know?

Thanks Alison

Thanks will do if we cant find someone.

I know how bad it is with staffies in the kennels/rescues was taking all Jeds things to one last weekend and was upsetting going round the over crowded kennels - too many staffies there.

Trying to sort this to save taking up another rescue space as I know how pushed they are.

We both work in the same College and Im sure there has to be someone there who could offer Bonzo a home.

Will get some posters done for the staff room - if Its via work homecheck will be easy to do.

Friend and daughter and Bonzo are bonding but with them working all day it really is not an option.

Will keep you posted!

I hope Bonzo finds a good home soon. I'll post the info in a couple of forums and ask them to PM me.

Thanks, Im told he is fine with children, cats and other dogs - he has been in the local park both onn and off the lead and has met many dogs - totally friendly and fine. Comes back when called.

He seems to be very close to friends daughter who brought him home, formed a real bond there, they say Its a shame they both work long days and often evenings.

Thanks, Ive had some interest from one rescue forum - a lady there says her brother is looking to offer a home to a staffie, he lost his a few months back. They have had staffies for years in the family.

Friend is going to ring her tomorrow - Im not getting hopes up yet as it doesnt always work out.

If it does I know friend is keen to get him settled asap as he is really bonding with her daughter and he needs to settle in a forever home asap.

Ive said to friend its best she takes him to this family so she can see where he would be going to - Ive only ever done homechecks for a few small animals and I dont think friend has ever done any. But if they meet the people and see the house they can ask questions and suss things out.

Hope this works out, if not will keep trying!

Thanks for the homecheck info - will pass that onto my friend.

Have given her that ladys contact details and she said a friend of her daughters is interested as is a friend of someone at work, both who have lost their staffies recently.

Friend has considered keeping him but she does a lot of vol work in the evenings so can be out all day, then all eve too and daughter works long shifts so they dont feel they can keep him, they feel he is just craving someone there a lot more to sit with him as he jumps up on peoples laps for long cuddles.

He sounds a typical staffie - after friend spent time putting up a stair gate he jumped straight over it:lol:

I will ask about - where are they located roughly?

The only lady who has been in touch - her brother went into hospital yesterday so that is on hold at the mo.

There is a staffie forum I joined for advice at one stage - they have a rehoming area, Id not been on there much as I tend to be on the rescue forums more than general ones.

Something needs to be done about the irresponsible cretins who allow their dogs to breed.

I know way too many in the rescues/pounds for more to be bred:no:

Ive already got very annoyed this week over a pet shop and a sign saying that they get their guinea pigs from a 'breeding factory':hbang::sigh:

Slave owners used to breed their own slaves. Not much has changed.

Just a bit of an update, friend has not found a home for Bonzo so he is now well settled in with her and does not appear to mind being left 'home alone' when she's at work, and daughter/daughters partner work shifts so are about a lot too.

Friend thinks hes wonderful and he has decided he is part of the family:)
