Have you done any sprouting, YouFirefly? Have you started your own veganic farm yet? It's coming up for Summer down there and it's a good idea to make hay whilst the sun shines. If you like hay, that is. :hungry:

Not yet! But it's definitely on the agenda! I live in a flat with few windows that get barely any light, let alone sun, so I can't do it here. However, I am going home to my parent's place for a few months and then moving into a new and hopefully sunnier flat :)
My mum has started a vege garden at home which is also very exciting, she's put a huge variety in there so I can't wait for that!

That happened to Daisy once. She ate something with onions in it, that I didn't know were in there. It was pretty scary. She was throwing up blood, and pooping blood too. That was several years ago. She is fine now.

I managed to catch a cold, so I will not be going anywhere. Sore throat and stuffy nose. :(
I had a very strange experience driving home Christmas night. I was nearly here, only about 30 miles away, and it was quite late, after ten PM, and I was just listening to the radio and thinking about nothing in particular as you do after you have been on the road for several hours, when the horrid image of an animal running out in front of me and me hitting him suddenly arose in my mind. I thought about how grateful I am that I have never struck an animal with my car, and within seconds, there materialized a raccoon in the middle of the road. Somehow I think I sensed him there before my headlights got close enough to illuminate him. I suppose the sudden image of an animal in the road coming into my head at the exact moment could have been a coincidence, but I find that too convenient an explanation for its strength and timing.
He was just a little one, and needless to say I was able to brake in plenty of time for him to run back out of the highway. The image in my head seconds previously was of a possum, and I thought this was a possum til I got close enough to see his tail. Most raccoons are three times larger than this little fellow. He was indeed just about possum sized.

I've had similar experiences, although I tend not to see anything in my head, but instead have felt concerned and slowed, only to have an deer run out in front of me. Passengers have even commented to me about it (the slowing down and suddenly a deer runs out).

As for today (well technically it was yesterday), I worked for a few hours in the office, then I went home. I felt like I was done there, but it was also partly due to a headache starting. Headaches tend to make me rather irritable and grumpy. I don't even like to be around myself then.
So after a sandwich and a cara cara and some satsumas, I took a nap for 5 hours. I feel better now, except for being awake at 1 am.

It snowed again last night. All the roads to Yosemite are closed. They have had 3.5 feet of snow, mudslides, fallen trees, and downed power lines. They rarely have to close all their roads. The one near me is known as Yosemite's All Year Highway. Never supposed to be closed.

I think I threw my back out a bit, but I did manage to get the seat of my truck fixed. About a week ago, or maybe even longer, I realized I hadn't driven it in a long time, and sure enough, the battery was dead. I jumpered it with my van, and drove to Merced. When I got back, I flipped the driver's seat forward, to get something out from behind it, and the lever broke. I couldn't manage to fix it that day, as it started to rain. I figured I would have to remove both seats from the truck, and see how the unbroken one works, in order to see where the broken one needed fixing.
It's been so snowy and rainy since, I haven't been able to do it. The sun came out today, so I figured I better give it a try.
I couldn't shift the bolts though. They must be rusted tight underneath. After much awkward examination, I found that there were two catches, on either side of the seat, that needed to be pinched closed. I wedged a stone into the one near the door. Unfortunately the one on the other side of the seat proved impossible to reach. I had a go at the bolts at the front of the seat, and broke them free. I managed to lift the seat high enough to reach the catch and pinch it closed, and got the seat pushed back into position. So now the truck is drivable again!
I have a compressor. I guess I better get a pneumatic socket wrench. My Dad used to be around to help me with stuff I couldn't budge, but he's 160 miles away now, and I am on my own.

There's been a pop concert of some sort going on all day. They just finished about 20 minutes ago at 10.30. I say it was a concert but it just sounded like a noise whenever I heard it. The singing was not good. I could only hear it from the back of the house. It must have been extremely annoying to people who live closer.
Some committee will have decided that the concert could go ahead and will have given them a licence. They were licensed to make a noise. The noise is still a noise whether or not they have a licence. Without the licence they would have been breaking the law and causing a public nuisance. No one asked me if I would object to the noise. Some committee decided that what is usually against the law would not be against the law in this instance.
It must have been the Evolution Weekender 2011. I didn't hear anything tuneful. The singing sounded like a karoke night in a pub. And they become millionaires for that.

How was your account compromised?
I'm very careful to use as little gas as possible. I have it on the lowest flame when I heat the kettle. If it's higher most of the heat goes round the kettle and up in the air. It takes longer - about 10 minutes to heat 1/2 pint of water but it saves gas. I don't wait for the water to boil. I make the tea as soon as the water starts making a noise. :chef:

What a pity the tree fell. What are you thinking of making from the wood? You might be able to sell some of the wood.
I probably cood sell the wood. But I dont like folks coming back here.Iv took a few logs that was holloed out and have broke ends on them and stood them up at the entrance to my place around the outside of the garden and up at my drive way.I got them looking like they was trees them selfs. They go from about 3ft to maybe 5 or 6ft.Im going fill them with dirt and plant somthing in them.I got a hole mess of reel find hummus out of the base of the tree.Lots of carpenter ants.Im breaking up alot of the bark for mulch.Im going try to use as much of the tree I can for borders and maybe someother fun creative thing.Theres nothing about this tree thats lite xcept the hummus. It had poison ivy all over it too.Now so do I.

The ostrich likes clover blossoms, and he will eat them from your hand when he can't reach the ones that grow on the other side of the fence. :)

My day's not going well, although i've mass emailed loads of animal organisations about an event to raise funds for animals, and the sun is shining, I still feel upset. Met a couple of vegan people, who I really like as I never knew vegan people before and felt alone. However, me and this guy have been getting close, have a lot in common, but he doesn't see anything wrong in getting close, then pissing of to his other half when he want to, they have some 'open relationship' thing which I don't agree with, but I just wanted to be friends, and enjoy life, he had other ideas though. So i'm left alone, dwelling, again :-(

I'm trying to identify some birdsongs. There's a bird I have heard singing this year but I'm not sure what species. After listening to some recordings on the internet I think it's either the song of a Dunnock or a Wren. I am tending more towards the Dunnock.
There's another one I've heard for two or three years. I've described it as sounding like a squeaky wheel. But, if it's the Great Tit, the song is usually described as sounding like a bicycle pump. I think it must be the Great Tit's song.
I heard the songs here:
ht--tp://ww--w.garden-birds.co.uk/information/tutorials/
But the great tit on the next site sounds a bit different. He also has a bit of his song that sounds as if he's saying: 'Did you do it? Did you do it?' My mother told me there is a bird in India called the Did You Do It? because of their call.
And the coal tit on this next site sounds a bit like a squeaky wheel but the coal tits on the previous site don't.
ht--tp://ww--w.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/g/greattit/index.aspx
This is a great site for British birdsong.

You will find no comfort from vegan girls. They just laugh at your latest haircut and pour scorn on your choice of t-shirts. Have you tried egg replacer for your puds?
A very wise man, with the initials of N.N. once said:
True comfort comes from within the heart of one who is comfortable. In seeking comfort and solace we cause perturbations in our own equilibrium and defeat the object of our search. We must become as content as one who is content for true contentment and comfort. One who is content and comfortable does not seek contentment or comfort. In seeking to find we lose that which we seek because we must acknowledge our lack of comfort and contentment in order to seek them.

I bet Nitram Nagev does not have a girlfriend as it sounds to me that is what he is saying reading between the lines.
Nitram Nagev + sexy voluminous blonde woman = ahhhh and few words
Today I looked at my hair in the mirror several times and wondered if I have cut it too short. Then I thought if I joined the French foreign legion it would be too long. I am always surprised how my mind works but that does not mean I like it. If I had no mind and could just perceive things directly I think that might be pretty cool.

The GREAT Nitram Nagev (to address him in the way that has become universally recognised) has many women throwing themselves at him. He has forsaken all earthly delights (except tea and toast) to devote his life to scholarship and good works.
Professor Nagev once comtemplated joining the Foreign Legion and got as far as France before he changed his mind. He was told that camels spit at you.

Today I learnt the girl I am dating is a Christian and I am not sure how to take that as I fundamentally disagree with her faith on so many levels. Having said that she is just pretty enough and intelligent enough for me to let it slide for a while but I know the demon in me will come out at some point and pounce on this. It would be easier for me to date an atheist because I could show her she was wrong by the power of truth but a christian is pretty much nailed tight in the coffin.
So I am currently dating a meat eating christian... God what have I become. It's the lack of Vegan girls I blame for my fall from grace.

I have an old white cotton shirt that I only wear in the house. I decided to dye it with tea. This is what the British army used in India in the 19th Century to turn their tropical white uniforms khaki.
I have been using tea bags recently and kept the used ones for this purpose. I boiled them up this morning, squeezed them out, put the water in a bowl and added salt. The salt 'fixes' the dye.
The result is not what I had hoped it would be. The shirt is a very pale sandy colour. If I'd used fresh tea it would have been darker. I suppose I could just keep seeping it in tea each week until it gets as dark as I want it.

I went to town yesterday to buy two more for the front bedroom window. They didn't have any of the style I bought before. Then I saw one that was big enough to fit the window which is the same size as the sitting room. I opened it today and realised it is longer than it is wide. I am going to put it up sideways. It will fit then. I'll put a hem along one side for the wire thing I use to suspend them. I might even take the tape off the top to reinforce it.

Bloody neighbours. Threw a glass jar full of pate over onto my patio and it smashed...only knew about it when my dog was eating the pate and then I told him not to and he brought it all in, luckily I got most of it from him, but he managed to eat some, and in the other parts of the pate were glass shards, so I hope to god that he didn't swallow any glass shards too. There's glass all over my patio too :(
If the cigarette butts weren't enough they have to go do something dangerous and put my dog at risk! I was going to the vegan fayre in wolverhampton today but since that happened during the night I'm to worried about the dog to go. Thanks neighbours, for making me stress and fret, ruining my trip, and potentially risking my dogs life! I decided to cut the back a bit shorter today. I didn't look at what I was doing. I just ran the clippers up the back of my head with the half-inch guard on. I looked in the mirror and saw that the patch near my ear is now bigger and you can see the skin. I will have to cut the back even shorter tomorrow to make it less obvious. I will probably use the quarter-inch guard and go higher up the back of my head and then use the eigth-of-an-incher to cut nearer the neckline. At this rate I might end up with a Telly Savalas cut.

People who break in to vivisection torture chambers or to factory farms to liberate the victims in them are called criminals. But what about the Royal Navy in the early 19th-Century? They broke international law when they stamped out the slave trade. They stole the property of the slave traders by liberating the slaves.
That thought came to me as I was watching a telly programme an hour or so ago when the presenter mentioned that the RN broke international law. They imposed their morals on others - which is what the ALF-type people do. It was right 200 years ago but is wrong today. The law is not only an ass (sorry, asses) but is hypocritical.
We need a new term instead of 'the law is an ass'. Perhaps 'the law is a vivisector' because vivisectors are so stupid that they think they can use one species to study another species. There is a thread for such veganising of sayings.
