This is my lil foster puppy, she's going to live with my mum when she's big enough for their parson's terrier to not think she's a rat. She silently salivates at her though the glass door and tried to kill her each time they were introduced! Hence puppy coming to live with us for a while. My crabby ol' ginger house cat will probably decide he wants to eat her too but he's easier to keep away from her then the rabid terrier.

Check it out... puppy tongue!

Aw, what a cute little button!
I'm terrible at finding names for animals. Sometimes it takes me a week or two before the right name surfaces.

She's a little smasher. She looks like an Annabel.

She's a headcase! I've a feeling I'm going to be billing my parents for a new sofa and rugs by the time she moves out :dizzy:

I think it's easier to find names for boys for some reason. I'm struggling with a name for her, probably because I'm naming her for someone else. I'll probably name her when she bites one of my toes off and I'm screeching and swearing lol

Annabel is lovely but I forgot to mention that I need a name with no more than two syllables so my profoundly deaf brother has a chance of pronouncing it. He helps my mum look after the dogs & calls them in when they won't come for her (they roam freerange on the farm most of the day).

I'm leaning towards Molly and Bonny type names. Someone suggested Nell which is lovely too. And then again there's Elvie :rubchin:

Thank you everyone, I've been getting some great suggestions for her

I took her to the vets this afternoon for her first check up and her first shots. So my mum and I settled on Poppy this morning, it's a very sweet name for a very sweet puppy :smallheart:

She didn't like the injection at all bless her and wasn't too happy with syringe full of worming medicine either. The vet said that she would be sleepy this evening. Unfortunately the sleepy didn't kick in during my pre-dinner shift but has now for my husband's evening shift lol. She went around the house like a maniac when we got home and is now snoozing away on monkeyboy's knee

I'm so sorry tails, I didn't answer you earlier, I'm puppied out atm and my heads all over the place :o

She actually belongs to my parents so the plan is to integrate her back into their household when she's big enough not to be in danger from their parsons russell. My disabled brother lives with them and the dogs are for him really so we'll have to do our best to move her back there when the times right.

We love her but she's the total opposite of what would suit us. I have moderate to severe ME and we have a 15yr old housecat so an older dog would suit our lifestyle better. I also want to work abroad for a while when I eventually do recover so don't want to commit to a pup. The vet thinks she's part collie so living in the country would suit her much better, all those fields to burn the energy off in. If it turns out that Jilly is always going to be aggressive towards her then we would keep her but it really would be better all round if we didn't have to. If she goes back to my parents in a few months (and our cat decides that he doesn't totally hate dogs after all) it'll leave us the opportunity to adopt an older dog.

Thanks Tails, I'm so sorry you've got a rickety body too :( I had to drop out of uni during my second year 11yrs ago and haven't managed to work since. It is sucky having to put up with these things but it gives me some time to devote to online volunteer work and of course gives me so much time with my furry friends. I was especially glad of having that time when one of my old housekitties died last year, leaving his 15yr old brother alone for the first time in his life. At least I was at home all day and able to give him enough attendion to ease his situtation.

The thing with the parsons goes beyond Poppy annoying her. Jilly is only 4 herself and very playful. The reaction is full on prey mode, the salivating, creepy silent panting, stalking and licking her lips at poor Poppy through the glass door. My poor mum's nerves were shattered trying to make sure no one left door open in case Jilly got near her. With her having the run of the farm we know she's probably quite experieced at ratting so would probably kill Poppy within seconds. I had a small cat who killed a very large rat in about 30 seconds in our kitchen years ago. It's scarey how skilled they can be at killing!

It was crazy tab, I'd never seen a dog in full blown prey mode before. People who purposely take those dogs out hunting are really not right in the head, there's definitely something wrong with someone who wants to see that :(

Their lil prince died last month, he was 14 and possibly the sappiest sweetest dog in the world. He died a horribly painful death, the vets couldn't find out what was wrong and we suspect it was cancer. He was in so much pain at the end they couldn't even stroke his coat to sooth him :( It was all very emotional for the whole family, especially my disabled brother, so my dad (who can't cope with anything) rushed out to get this pup when she was offered to them. She was given to them by a family friend who lets his b*tches have one litter before they're spayed so has pups to give away every year. I'm against it, of course, but I suppose it's marginally better than those who breed defects into pedigrees for money

Less than two weeks after prince died my elderly friends 11yr old pooch took very ill. I spent a lot of time with them in his last week and it was heartbreaking when he had to be helped along by the vet. I've known her 19yrs and it's the first time I've seen her really cry, lil ol lady tears are one of the saddest things in the world.

Needless to say, coming within 5 mths of loosing our lovely Jethro kitty, we were all pretty heartsore. It's funny, I started saying a few weeks ago that I'd be open to having a dog. My friend Ally says when you put things out there the universe will find a way of bringing it back to you. I think Poppy was sent to us for many reasons. She really has put the heart back into our house, it's lovely to see that wilful madness that's been missing since we lost Jethro. It's also the first time I've seen monkeyboy really enjoy being with an animal, which is making him super hot :lech:

I really do talk too much :o

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Fezza.

Poppy is a lovely name. Does she see your parents so she can get used to them?

Thanks Gliondrach, unfortunately it's just part of loving something with a relatively short lifespan isn't it.

Poppy was at my parents house from Wednesday to Sunday and was loving everyone but at 9wks they're like that aren't they. She'll see my mum regularly and when she's a bit bigger and more hearty I'll take her to visit the rest of them occasionally. There'll be lots of contact and visits leading up to the hand over, a lot of it will be getting her and Jilly used to each other. It might be a bit difficult for her to leave us but I think the lure of the countryside and a furry playmate will ease the transition for her... and she'll be spoilt rotten lol

Bless your heart! You dont talk too much! I think your friend is right. Pop the Pup was meant to be!

It is terrible to lose anyone your love. My heart goes out to anyone who does. At least we know with our companion animals that we do the best we can for them and we know (hopefully) when things are too much to bear we can stop their suffering. Its just unbearable for the "owners" though. You know that with poor Angus and I know it with Abbey (or abbiecrumble to her friends).

Big hugs to all the oirish Fezzas and the intriguingly named Monkeyboy. (Perhaps Pob could be Donkeyboy......)

Aaahh thank you tabbit, I do love you :colors: If you every see him in a pair of shorts you'll get the monkeyboy reference, bandy hairy legs... he's always monkeying around and eating bananas too ;) *snorts @ Donkeyboy* do it!

Yes, the parting is all but unbearable.

Jilly had better watch out when Poppy has grown to three times her size.
