Vegetarians in Paradise (http://www.vegparadise.com/), a vegetarian Los Angeles Internet magazine. Lots of interesting topics, and though they call themselves vegetarians in Paradise, most of the stuff I looked at is vegan. They have a nice list of alternatives to all kinds of "meats", and dairy and egg substitutes that are vegan.

This could be because, certainly in the UK we are given the impression that most vegan Americans refer to their diet as vegetarian.:rubchin:

When I was a vegetarian I never used leather, or ate anything with gelatin, or any cheese with rennet, which is different from vegetarians today, it seems. It took me a long time to think of myself as vegan though, after I gave up the last few animal "products", as vegans did appear extreme to me, and I feared I would never be accepted as a vegan because I lived with animals.
To this day, if someone asks me if I am vegetarian, I just say yes, rather than go into a big explanation, as my fuse is much shorter than it used to be, and I am much more likely to come out swinging if I get in a fight with someone.
