Ingredients:

Organic cane sugar, organic cocoa butter, organic partially hydrolyzed rice powder, organic cocoa mass, organic hazelnuts, natural algae, organic vanilla extract, salt.

This is pretty good! I only just found it recently, so I cannot compare it to the taste of cow milk chocolate, but I am sure its better. I still like dark chocolate, though, as I gave up on milk chocolate many years ago and never had anything but dark. Still, I think a new vegan with a cow milk chocolate jones would like this very much. I got this at Wholefoods Market. Its free-trade, too.

Ingredients:

RAPADURA whole cane sugar, unrefined cocoa butter, chocolate liquor (100% cocoa beans), cocoa powder, GMO free soy lecithin, vanilla beans.

These are excellent for adding to recipes or just eating out of the bag! I got these at Wholefoods Market.

Ingredients:

Chocolate, unbleached water-filtered beet sugar, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, pure vanilla.

These folks donate 10% of their profits to endangered species charities. www.chocolatebar.com (http://www.chocolatebar.com)

The Chimpanzee bar is 72% cocoa content. Its awfully rich and good, and such a simple formula too. Chocolate is full of antioxidants and other good phytochemicals, as well as theobromine (food of the gods) which is a mood enhancer for humans, but very toxic for dogs. This stuff is too good to share, anyway.

The only other Vegan I know, a friend who lives around the corner from me bought me a bar of this. It's gorgeous and I don't even like chocolate that much :)

Organica Vegan Chocolate Couverture Bar

Set your tastebuds to ‘faze’. This bar is going to dazzle your senses to infinity and beyond. In fact, some of our testers – newly vegan – reckon that this tastes like a Galaxy bar. Its ‘milkiness’ comes from a combination of rice milk and hazelnut. Vegan, organic and fair-trade, there’s nothing to dislike here.

Here's mine:

Heidi Pralinetti noir. Dark chocolate. It's made for those who want to eat chocolate during the fasting periods. Please excuse the poor quality of the images, for I had to do them with my webcam.

I haven't had any cocoa for a long time. I like Rowntree's but I have only seen Cadbury's and Green and Black's. It is tradition for me to drink Rowntree's cocoa. It's what I had when I was a young lad. No drinking chocolate for me. It has to be cocoa.

If you want chocolate, this is a SUPER recipe...I've put in alterations that I made (i.e., using chips and walnuts), but this recipe has shown many of my students, co-workers, and even my veterinarian's office that being vegan can be super yummy!

Chewy Vegan Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies
Recipe #9909410 on recipezaar.com
"These are brownie-like and chewy. Be careful not to overbake them, they may seem like they aren't done after 10 minutes but they are! See the variations for Chewy Chocolate Cherry Cookies and Chocolate Hazelnut (or almond or walnut or whatever) Cookies at the bottom of the directions." Recipe from the Post Punk Kitchen (www.thePPK.com) and accredited to Isa.
by Roosie

16 servings 32 cookies 35 min total--25 min prep

3/4 cup canola oil
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 tablespoon flax seeds, plus
1 teaspoon flax seeds (or use same amount flax meal)
1/2 cup soy milk (plain or chocolate)
2 cups flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet vegan chocolate chips OR
1/2 cup chips and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grind flax seeds in a blender until they become a fine powder (skip this if using flax meal), then add the soy milk and blend for about 30 seconds more and set aside.
In a large bowl, sift together cocoa, flour, baking soda and salt.
Cream the sugar and oil in a seperate large bowl.
Add the flax/soy milk mixture and mix well.
Stir in the vanilla.
Slowly mix in the dry ingredients.
Mix in the chocolate chips.
Roll dough into 1" balls and flatten into disks about 1 1/2" in diameter.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1" apart and bake for 10 minutes.
Let rest on the cookie sheet for about 5 minutes, then remove with a spatula to a cooling rack and cool completely.
**For chocolate chocolate chip cherry cookies, replace 1 teaspoon of the vanilla with almond extract, and use 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup chopped cherries.
***For chocolate nut cookies, replace 1 teaspoon of the vanilla with a nut extract (almond, walnut, etc) and replace the chocolate chips with 1 cup chopped nuts of your choice.

I've discovered Shazzie's raw chocolate.

V expensive, but a nice treat. Also is very good for you being raw.
