Products Not To Buy

It has only just come to my attention not long ago that these companies do not care about animals at all and i have seen footage and reports of what they do

They do not need to do what they do but they still continue to do it so i say boycott them all

The main 2 i know of are

GlaxoSmithKline

Procter & Gamble P&G

Now these companies do a whole load of products ranging from foods to pet food to toiletries to body spray and batteries

So to read a list of the products they do please go to

I wouldn't buy anything from the scum.

I get the few toiletries I buy from the Co-op. I bought some deodorant from Lush last year. I usually use the Co-op's brand, though.

Here is the list from PETA of companies in the USA who test on animals.

I left out their addresses because the document does not allow copying and pasting, and I haven't got the time or the desire to replicate the document in its entirety. PETA ought not to copy-protect information like this if they want to disseminate it to as many people as possible.

I'll have to find the links but I stopped going to Starbucks years ago. They sponsor rodeos. They responded to my vegan coworker's letter by stating they believe it is important to support regional cultural events. My friend's response, which was something about the fact that the American Vegan Society is located in New Jersey so will Starbucks sponsor a vegan event here, went unanswered. :shakehead:

If anyone in the US is looking for an alternative to Starbucks coffee, Grounds for Change (www.groundsforchange.com) is a fantastic company. The tea, coffee and chocolate are all fair-trade and most are organic. We've been buying our coffee from them for over a year now. Superior product and customer service.

I did have a good look through the lists but couldnt see anything other than Colgate mentioned. Just wanted to also mention that they also now own Toms of Maine toothpaste. I know this can be a touchy subject as a good company once loved by vegans and anti testers has gone to such an obvious enemy much like the Body Shop to Loreal. Ive found many people would prefer to carry on supporting such companies as they are considered seperate from the main company, but to me its money in the same purse Id myself prefer not to support them, and much rather give Toms a sign that you cant build an ethical company of the backs of such vegans/anti vivs just to sell out to one of the worst. But Ill leave that for open discussion and just add an alternative or two. If they are in the list, or wish to add to the superlist, pls do, anything for ease of refernce, and thxs for the mass company compilation, always appreciated. :D

Toms of Maine - Owned by Colgate-Palmolive

AFAIK Kingerfisher is still solo and doing good work, and also started to use sarakan since Toms takeover. Although very odd, and a bit non foamy, it does seem to do the job. They also do mouthwash. Heres a link:

I stopped using JASON because they were bought out by Hain Celestial who was bought out by one of the big corporations (can't recall now) who do test on animals. It gets so confusing! :dizzy: We use Nature's Gate now. As far as my research goes, Nature's Gate is still independently owned, no animal testing and no animal products and is flouride-free (for now ).

There are so many names :( I just try and find the ones that are approved than try to remember all the ones that aren't!

Ahaha, same! Maybe we should have an anti-boycott list - for people we shouldn't avoid?! Personally I'd find that fantastic! Or at least the 'main' people we shouldn't rule out for being cruel and heartless, etcetera.

Do you mean people who aren't vegan but who aren't too bad? You could start a thread.

Yeah, mixed perhaps with people who are vegan too?

Such as, we could list people like Co-op with a little message that says something like 'sells vegan food/vegan sanitary products' etc....

E.G

The Anti-Boycott Thread:

Co-op - Sells Vegan Products; such as food and sanitary products (also fairtrade!)

Teehee.

We could also add veggie/vegan resturants and cafes, like Heather Mill's V-Bites

...I might well do...I'll try and make a small list of my own and start a tread with that! Hopefully people will join in with the listing! :D

EDIT: Just thought of another thing! Charities we shouldn't be boycotting could be added too!

Yes, I've seen it. Very good. I can't think of anything to add. Yet.

I tend to use Coop when possible they make life easy with A1 labels

Same! I love Co Op, I have to admit. Unfortunately nearby we only have two rather small ones, and no big Co Op :( But I tend to go there first if I need anything, since it's just so easy to see if the food is vegan-friendly.

...'Innocent' do really good labels now as well. The other day I was looking for one of their vegan friendly 'veggie pots', but couldn't find one...but I was really impressed because I picked up another one of their products to see if I could have it, and noticed that on the back it said something like 'sorry, not for vegans, this has milk in'. I thought that was really great! :D

My branch of the Co-op often doesn't have what I want. For weeks they didn't have any raisins. For weeks they didn't have any soya milk.

There must be a shortage of raisins because I can't get any either.
