In this game you have to guess the title of a book, play or film. People have up to 9 guesses. They try to find out by asking questions that can only be answered by a yes or a no. It is better to choose only things that a lot of other people are likely to know. So, no choosing The Mabinogion or The Bicyle Thieves.

Are you ready? Here we go.

This is a film. Some characters congregate in a nightclub in North Africa.

veggiesosage
06-27-2007, 03:45 PM
Is it Casablanca?

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 03:46 PM
Yes. Clever clogs. Your turn.

veggiesosage
06-27-2007, 04:04 PM
Ok. Some characters jump into a load of x wing fighters and congregate around a death star with a view to blowing it up.

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 04:05 PM
Is there a princess in the film?

veggiesosage
06-27-2007, 04:08 PM
There most certainly is.

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 04:11 PM
Is it one of the Star Wars films?

veggiesosage
06-27-2007, 04:16 PM
*goes to check title*

Yes

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 04:20 PM
Is it the original called Star Wars, now called Star Wars IV?

veggiesosage
06-27-2007, 04:33 PM
Yeehaa! You can pick another one if you like now.

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 04:38 PM
Righty-o. A book, and later a telly series. A fun-loving family get an, at first, unwelcome visitor.

veggiesosage
06-27-2007, 04:41 PM
Is the visitor a yeti kind of thing?

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 04:42 PM
No.

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 04:44 PM
You can ask three times for a clue. But only after you have asked 4 questions. But then you won't get the glory of guessing without help.

veggiesosage
06-27-2007, 04:47 PM
Good. I'd forgotton the name of that series where a yeti thing moves in with a family.

Is it based in America?

Gliondrach
06-27-2007, 04:51 PM
No.

Oracl

Is it Northern Lights?

Gliondrach
07-01-2007, 04:55 AM
To all those people - no names, no pack drill - who might ask a question before the previous one has been answered, the rules are that you only ask a question after the previous one has been answered. The rules are clearly printed for anyone to see if they visit my house. Any infringements may result in the infringer being banned from entering the prize draw.

Yes, you're right, I'm making them up as I go along.

Fauxmage
07-01-2007, 11:26 AM
Is it Northern Lights?
Actually, my copy is called "The Golden Compass", but I happen to have read the small print where it says that in the UK it was released as "Northern Lights".

They've made it into a film, to be released in December 2007. I wonder how true it will remain to the story.

Gliondrach
07-01-2007, 11:40 AM
My turn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A film. A university lecturer goes to another country and releases some child slave workers.

veggiesosage
07-01-2007, 11:47 AM
Thought it might be that one :D

I think the His Dark Materials Trilogy is one of the best sets of books ever.

Apparently in the film they've toned down a lot of the anti religious side of it which is a shame but probably necessary to get it taken on by a major studio.

Here's a link to the trailer.

Yes, I like it too.

Apparently in the film they've toned down a lot of the anti religious side of it which is a shame but probably necessary to get it taken on by a major studio.
I figure they'd have to, especially if they want to make money off it in America, which is God's Country! :whistle:Or should I say, the Authority's Country! ;)

No, it's not Zulu. Two of you asked that. Only 6 questions left.

No, it's not Authority's Country. Only 5 left.

All right, let's play fair. We'll leave TVT's question as a joke. Quite funny. 9 questions left.

Bowwowmeow

Oracl
07-16-2007, 11:19 PM
Is it a fairly recently made film (as in since 2000)?

Bowwowmeow

Gliondrach

07-18-2007, 05:39 PM
Was the main charactor played by Harrison Ford?

Gliondrach
07-19-2007, 01:16 PM

Bowwowmeow
07-19-2007, 02:28 PM

There have been more than 4 questions. You can have a clue - if TVT doesn't give the correct answer. I think she knows it. Was that a clue?

Bowwowmeow
07-21-2007, 10:21 AM
I thought we were allowed 9 questions. And if thevegantwins doesn't come here and guess pretty soon, I will.

07-23-2007, 06:25 PM

Yes. Your turn.

'The Invaders. Alien beings from a dying planet. Their destination: the earth. Their purpose: to make it their world.

'David Vincent has seen them. For him, it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a shortcut. It began with a closed, deserted diner, and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey. It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy.

Strangely, my first guess of McCloud starred Dennis Weaver. But without a Huckleberry Hound accent.
