Fiona Oakes, from Vegan Runners, was a comfortable winner of the ladies' race. She was more than 10 minutes clear of runner-up Kim Masson in 2.58.22.

Never rely on the regular media to get info about vegans, that's my motto ;

13th May 2007 Essex Championships - Halstead

In less than ideal conditions Fiona stormed the race to take 1st place & smash over 10 minutes from the previous course record (set last year), taking it to 2 hours 58 minutes odd.

Stunned rece organisers said - "I'm lost for words. When I saw your winning time of 2:58:22 I was stunned that someone had taken over 10 mins off of our course record (which previously stood at 3:09:04). I don't know what to say, you achieved that and yet are battling a collapsed lung and have both kneecaps removed- unbelievable.”

There's a picture of her on that last site too :)

So, you can "trive" on a vegan diet :agree:

Well done to Fiona.

Both knee caps removed? How can she run?

Well, in my view, she could have used some more fat on her arms, maybe in other places too? (didn't look past the arms)

Remarkably strong arms if you ask me (for a runner )

You can't always go by how someone looks. She might do so much training that her immune system sometimes doesn't work properly. And women shouldn't be too thin if it is not their normal build. I don't know if it is her normal build.
