You sometimes hear of lambs being born with two heads. Probably meant to be twins.

I wonder where the chicken came from?
Acc. to the BBC news site, the chicken was dumped at a rescue.
I don't think it was dumped for it's third leg, but out of convience.
A industrial chicken farm would not have seen it, nor would they take the trouble to bring the chicken to a rescue (imho)

They would have been delighted with it. Three drumsticks instead of just two.

I hate to say it, but you'd think that the chicken breeders would want to perpetuate that mutation deliberately, in order to be able to sell more legs without having to feed as many chickens.

I don't believe that.
I've got a training as tractor mechanic, so once I was slightly interested in agricultural magazines.
There I read that they for instance, don't want five nipple cows, cause they don't fit the milk machine ;)
A three legged chicken would not be easy to hang on the slaughterline, so that's why they won't do that (imho)

They'd be hard to catch. They could side step when anyone tried to grab them.

I guess they could always get the PETA award-winning Temple Grandin to design a new slaughtering production line for them. :sigh:

Poor little thing. :( I hope she is alright after the surgery. :crossfingers:
Please pardon this selfish P.S., but I'm pretty happy because it's the first time I have ever been able to watch a video on the Internet. :) The old computer couldn't handle them at all.
