If you are a vegan artist check out Veganica (http://veganica.com/)!

They have a fundraising project to alter a bus to run on vegetable oil, and then drive it from the East Coast of the USA to the Burning Man event in Nevada. I'm a little dubious about the Burning Man after having done some searches on it. My Dad went there about four or five years ago. I'll have to ask him some very pointed questions about his take on the whole thing now. Its supposed to be an art festival, but it seems to have degraded a little from its original spirit.

A couple of my mates went to Burning Man about 3 years ago. I think it can still safely claim to be an arts festival but obviously all sorts of stuff goes on. Its cool in that they insist that absolutely everything that goes in must go out again and that includes used water of any kind. I think the only facilities they provide are a big coffee stall and an ice stall.

However, on that basis, I'm not sure how they justify the couple of hundred dollars ticket price.

They build extensive steel framed shelters, I believe, which factors into the cost, and a team stays behind for two weeks after the event, to make sure the area is left the same way it was found, and maybe they are not volunteers.
I do see some of the same Art Cars that go there every year, a few on the streets in San Francisco, and one that actually gets stored right here at the marina. I don't know who owns the one near me, though.
